    Systems Administrator

    Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Digital IT Department within the Technology division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

    Reporting to the Manager – Cloud and Infrastructure Support, the successful candidate will offer system support, monitoring and administration of Safaricom’s Digital IT Private and Cloud Infrastructure based on Windows and Unix/Linux environments running varying servers, storage and SAN systems as well as support of Virtualization environments and Container platforms.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Administering, configuring and troubleshooting private or cloud-based servers running on Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux in physical, virtualized or containerized environment. Response, problem resolution and escalation of server issues.
    • Support automation of infrastructure at massive scale to support scaling of digital services and as well as adoption of new technologies within Infrastructure and cloud support team.
    • Support cloud Migratio initiatives and new technologies adoption.
    • Analysis of server hardware and operating system software, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory. Role includes implementation of tactical service improvements, upgrades and system patching.
    • Liaise with users, hardware and software vendors and internal systems owners to fine tune systems hardware and software for all systems.
    • Operations of backup tools and testing of disk and data recovery solutions on all business systems. Prompt restoration of lost data for the business. Backup, hardware and software assurance.
    • Technical support for assigned company initiatives and projects. Participation in feasibility studies and testing for new IT infrastructure components.
    • Technical support to IT Container Platforms based on Kubernetes and Redhat OpenShift.
    • Maintenance of systems documentation and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
    • 4 years’ experience as Systems administrator/analyst in a multifaceted business environment with integrated/mixed of windows/UNIX/Linux operating environment, servers and storage systems. 
    • System Administration Techniques – understanding OS Performance, Microsoft and Unix/Linux enterprise systems.
    • Certification on Windows, Unix/Linux  Virtualization.
    • Certification in AWS/Azure or Other Cloud platform.
    • Knowledge and certification in SAN/NAS, Container Management, Provisioning/Configuration automation.
    • Good Knowledge and experience of Container Platforms i.e. Kubernetes and RedHat Openshift.
    • Good Knowledge of Agile Ways of working.
    • Strong Oral, Written, Interpersonal Communication and Leadership skills.
    • Basic Knowledge of DevSecOps and Microservices Technologies.
    • Attention to details technologies e.g. Android, IOS, 2G, 3G, LTE, USSD etc. , will be an added advantage

    Head of Department-Credit & Collections

    Description

    Brief Posting Description                     

    Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Head of Department – Credit & Collections will lead the organization in the efforts to manage the company’s Debt portfolio that includes the enterprise, retail as well as digital lending product portfolio. The role holder will empower the simplification, digitization and automation of processes that improve customer centricity through improving customer journeys and experience. Additionally, the role holder will take responsibility for the multi-functional team of experts with the ambit to attract, develop and retain talent for the team while maintaining engagement through innovative methods.

    Job Responsibilities                

    • Actively reduce the outstanding debt on respective ledgers as per monthly set target collection & clean up targets.
    • Develop close partnership with enterprise, financial services and consumer teams for implementation of sustainable programs to drive growth and retention of customer base.
    • Ensure world class effectiveness and efficiency in the customer bill generation and dispatch process that improves customer experience.
    • Diligent adherence and implementation of processes and tools necessary to deliver forecast collections.
    • Development, testing and implementation of vetting and verification procedures and tools to facilitate faster activation process with reduced risk exposure on bad debt.
    • Continuous development and execution of strategic programs to ensure churn is reduced to the agreed business percentages.
    • Definition, launch and roll out of alternative methods of servicing our customers by offering new options and methods of service delivery.
    • Liaison with the technical team in the effective management of the payment interfaces ensuring that they are closely monitored.
    • Providing key leadership and coaching to the assigned teams, stakeholders and partners to achieve collaborative and constructive working relationships.
    • Partnering with Finance teams in Business Planning & Budgeting; Controlling and Business Partners to have a consistent view on the debt portfolio, treatment and management on a monthly basis

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelors’ Degree in Commerce or a closely similar discipline from a recognized University.  A Post Graduate Degree, CPA (K), ACCA ACA will be an added advantage.
    • Relevant professional qualification/Certification in Credit Management
    • At least 10 years’ experience in credit and /or risk management in a complex environment with 5 years of supervisory experience
    • Proven performance track record across credit collection, stakeholder and team engagement
    • Organizational and project management experience and the drive to lead projects to successful outcomes

    Senior Officer; Cyber Security Assurance

    Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Cyber Security Department within the Corporate Security division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

    Reporting to the Senior Manager; Cyber Security Strategy & Design, the successful candidate will support in ensuring all new and existing systems/products/services comply with Safaricom's security policies & standards and other industry best practices e.g. ISO27001, CIS etc. The candidate will also provide timely security assurance reports and advice to the business as required.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct periodic security reviews, vulnerability assessments & penetration tests across all of Company’s systems/infrastructure
    • Ensure all new and existing systems/products/services comply with Company's security policies & standards and other industry best practices e.g. ISO27001, CIS and Kenya Data Protection Act
    • Provide timely and quality security assurance reports and advice to the business when required even with very tight deadlines
    • Do regular follow ups with system custodians/owners to ensure any security risks identified are addressed within the agreed timelines
    • Define Cyber Security metrics and report periodically on security compliance across all networks/systems
    • Develop a monthly scorecard for each department based on how well they are performing in terms of Cyber Security compliance
    • Research on new threats/technologies/vulnerabilities/security design principles etc.

    Qualifications

    Role requirements;

    • Degree in Information Security/Computer Forensics/Computer Science/Information Technology or other relevant Technical Degree
    • Information security certifications e.g. CEH/CISSP/CISM/CISA/GIAC/CPTP/OSCP
    • Advanced Networking certifications: CCNA/CCNP/CCSP/CCIE are also preferred
    • Certifications in Microsoft Windows and Linux/Unix Operating Systems
    • Demonstrate competency in the use and administration of ethical hacking tools e.g. KALI Linux, Metasploit, Nexpose, Nessus, Nmap, BurpSuite etc.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in Information Systems Security – e.g. Ethical Hacking, Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Assessments, Pre-and-Post Implementation System Reviews, etc
    • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in Networking and Operating Systems e.g.  Cisco, Huawei, Windows (All), Unix, Linux etc
    • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in Web and Mobile applications development e.g. Java, Python, PHP, Javascript, CSS, Apache, Nginx, IIS etc
    • Working knowledge of databases e.g. Oracle, MSSQL, MariaDB, Postgress etc, will be an added advantage
    • Working knowledge of Virtualization & Microservices technologies e.g. VMware, Open shift, Kubernetes, Docker etc will be an added advantage
    • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies e.g. AWS and Azure will be an added advantage
    • Working knowledge and experience in DevSecOps technologies i.e. Jenkins, Jira, Github, Gitlab etc. will be an added advantage
    • Working knowledge of Mobile and GSM technologies e.g. Android, IOS, 2G, 3G, LTE, USSD etc. , will be an added advantage
