    SDG Localization Expert Consultant

    The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks: 

    • Provide technical support and expertise for the implementation of the Ghana Smart SDG Cities project  
    • Provide technical support to the development and future implementation of the Women Led Cities Initiative 
    • Provide technical expertise in developing and reviewing the SDG Cities methodology developed by the team 
    • Develop relevant tools and guidance to support implementation according to the SDG Cities methodology 
    • Provide substantive guidance in the development and implementation of trainings and capacity building on SDG Cities tools in collaboration with the Team members, specifically directed to local consultants, ROs, COs, and other interested partners
    • Research on a regular basis about innovative and effective tools and platforms for data analysis and management, including the attendance of relevant trainings Identify and establish opportunities for collaboration amongst other teams working on SDG localization, local governments and multilevel governance.  
    • Reporting Line.  
    • This post is located the Urban Practices Branch of UN-Habitat and specifically within its SDG localization and local governments team.
    • The incumbent will be supervised by Mr. Martino Miraglia, the Human Settlements Officer coordinating the work of the team, and under direct supervision of the Chief of the Urban Practices Branch. 
    • The expert will work in proximity to the other members of the team as well as other units, sections and offices across the Agency.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in information management, business analysis, project management, international development, or other related fields is required.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience on issues related to sustainable development, urban planning, local development and project management is required.
    • Working experience on the Agenda 2030 and the local implementation of the SDGs will be highly valued.

    Housing Solutions Intern

    • The intern will work under the overall coordination of the Head of Programmes, Somalia Programme, and the direct supervision of the assigned Human Settlements Officer, Manager for the Internal Displacement Solutions Fund Project (IDSF).  

    Responsibilities 

    • The intern will assist in collecting, analyzing, and documenting data and insights needed for both Best practices report on housing and settlement solutions for Bossaso and the Catalouge best practice in housing for IDPs for Somalia.

    The intern’s support will include:

    • Support in data collection, analysis, and documentation for the Best Practices Housing Report on Bossaso and the Catalogue for Somalia. Assist in conducting field assessments, site visits, and mapping of housing and settlement initiatives, including compiling lists, maps, and documenting physical features and typologies. Assist in collecting project documentation such as designs, impacts, and lessons learned from implementing agencies.
    • Assist in developing simple architectural drawings of housing typologies using AutoCAD. 
    • Support in compiling a detailed project database with information on project names, locations, shelter counts, typologies, and descriptions. Assist in conducting desk research to identify successful and scalable housing models in Somalia and comparable contexts. 
    • Support in documenting case studies, methodologies, impacts, and lessons learned, and compiling visual materials such as photos and sketches. Support in organizing stakeholder consultations and field visits to gather qualitative insights and validate data. Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting report sections and catalogue entries to ensure clarity, consistency, and professionalism.

    Qualifications/special skills
    Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: 

    • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),  
    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),  
    • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.    
    • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

    • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or similar architectural visualization software. Proficiency in architectural visualization, 3D modeling, and graphic design (e.g., Adobe Suite including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).  
    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Knowledge of housing and settlement issues in humanitarian or development contexts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

    Intern - Communications and Social Inclusion

    Responsibilities  

    Under the direct supervision of the Project Management Officer in the Human Rights and Social Inclusion (HRSI) Unit, the intern will:

    • Support with the development of a communication strategy for HRSI Unit, including liaising with UN-Habitat’s Communications and Media Section for review and approval.
    • Support in the development and curation of inclusive content for social media platforms, newsletters, articles, blog posts and website updates to promote human rights and social inclusion, including to highlight key activities, events, and achievements.  
    • Support with the development and curation of human-interest stories that highlight the impact of HRSI’s work.
    • Assist with internal and external reporting through data visualisation and designing of infographics, presentations and other communication materials.
    • Support with video production and editing for advocacy and awareness as needed. Support with the organisation and production of capacity building events, including Community of Practice sessions and Expert Group Meetings. 
    • Support with relevant media engagement, including press releases and media kits and assist with organising webinars, campaigns and other public events related to human rights and social inclusion.
    • Liaise with HRSI team members to map key resources and tools on digital accessibility, track media coverage relevant to HRSI Unit’s work and social media analytics.
    • Support with preparing communication reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct research on best practices in communication for social inclusion and urban safety.
    • Support the HRSI Unit’s team members as otherwise required.
    • This internship may be carried out remotely or in-person, based on the availability and needs of the selected intern.
    • If remote internship, time zone differences will be taken into consideration, but the intern must be available for a minimum of agreed meetings during EAT work hours to ensure a regular communication flow.

    Intern - Programme Management

    • He/She will report to the Senior Human Settlements Officer (SHSO) overseeing West Africa.  

    Responsibilities

    • Under the overall supervision of the Senior Human Settlements Officer (SHSO) overseeing West Africa, the intern will contribute in the following ways:
    • Familiarize him/herself with UN-Habitat’s mandate and the tools developed;  
    • Support in the GIS mapping and spatial analysis; Support in the development of concept notes and project documents for resource mobilization in West Africa;
    • Support Country offices in West Africa in monitoring and reporting to Regional Office for Africa (ROAf) and headquarters;
    • Contribute to the communication and visibility of UN-Habitat’s activities in West Africa;
    • Perform other tasks as needed, including but not limited to note taking, drafting minutes, providing translations, preparing power point presentations, attending meetings.

    Procurement Assistant (Multiple JO), G5

    Responsibilities

    • Provides procurement, logistical and administrative support to a team of Procurement Officers in the acquisition of a wide variety of goods and services.
    • Reviews, records and prioritizes purchasing requests and obtains additional information/documentation as required, determines the availability of vendors and funding sources.
    • Monitors status of existing requisitions, maintain contact with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, coordinates shipment of goods/commodities/equipment to HQ and field missions, verifies receipt and inspection of deliverables and accurately reports, as and if required.
    • Produces tender documents (e.g., Invitations to Bids, Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotation) based on the nature of requirements and cost of procurement involved.
    • Prepares abstracts of offers and compile data contained in quotations, proposals and bids to determine which supplier can deliver the required goods/services at the best terms and lowest costs possible under the guidance of Procurement Officers. 
    • Finalizes purchase orders and contracts for approval by the Procurement Officer; may authorize purchases in line with delegated signature authority, and, if required, prepares submission to the Contracts Committee for review and subsequent approval by the authorized official.
    • Assists relevant officers in more complex, higher value purchasing operations; coordinates distribution of pertinent documents to concerned parties, ensures appropriate follow-up action, etc.
    • Maintains relevant internal databases and files; keeps track of any contractual agreements, systems contracts, etc. and informs affected users of contractual rights and obligations.
    • Researches, retrieves and presents information from a variety of internal and external sources on sources of supply, vendors by commodity, etc., as well as obtain specifications for new products and equipment on the market.
    • Drafts routine correspondence. Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. 
    • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. 
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement or related area is required.
    • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced by two (2) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree.    
    • Experience working with a System Application and Products (SAP) system is required.    
    • Work experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable.    One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
