    Consultancy for Development of Land Security Tenure Training Manual for Community Mobilizers

    Specific Objectives

    The specific objectives for this assignment include:

    1. To develop a training manual for capacity building of the community land mobilizers
    2. To develop training materials that will be used for training of the community land mobilizers.
    3. To develop teaching aids and materials to be used by community mobilizers for land security of tenure community education.
    4. To conduct trainings for community mobilizers in Makueni County.
    5. To help the community mobilizers in preparing their workplans and community entry strategies to educate the community on land security of tenure.

    SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

    This assignment will be limited to the development of a land security capacity building manual for community mobilizers, together with the relevant training materials need. Besides developing teaching aids that will be used by the community mobilizers as they create awareness in the community. The developed content will then be used to train the community land mobilizers Makueni County besides helping the community land mobilizers to prepare their workplans and community entry strategies.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The consultant will:

    • Develop capacity building manual for community land mobilizers with modules on private and public lands tenure systems, land rights, titling procedures, conflict resolution methods and land use.
    • Develop the training materials that will be used for training purposes including an easy-to-use step by step training manual.
    • Develop teaching aids like flip charts, posters etc. with clear messages that will be used by the community land mobilizers to create awareness among the community members.
    • Conduct trainings for the community land mobilizers in Makueni County using the developed content.
    • Consult the relevant stakeholders in lands sector in government and civil societies to guide in the type of the relevant content.
    • Assist the land community mobilizers to develop work plans and community entry strategies.

    Habitat for Humanity Kenya will:

    • Provide all necessary logistics for the assignment like letters of introduction where necessary.
    • Provide all relevant documents that may be required by the consultant.
    • Organize training sessions for land community mobilizers.
    • Review and approve the content developed.
    • Provide advice and guidance on the development of materials.

    IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

    Through the technical proposals and work plan the consultants are expected to provide a detailed implementation plan outlining desk review, manual development, validation with experts, preparation of training aid and tool kits, training sessions and activity reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The suitable Consultant/s must have the following:

    • Bachelor of arts degree or its equivalent in Law, Development Studies, Communication, Public Health, Social Sciences, or any other related field with at least 5 years of experience in working in the land titling and advocacy for security of tenure.
    • Proven experience in policy analysis and review.
    • Ability to produce well-written reports, exhibiting excellent analytical and communication skills.
    • Should have good verbal, analytical, writing, and computer literacy skills.

    Consultancy to Develop Training Manual for Water Management Committees in Kisumu County

    DELIVERABLES

    The deliverables will include:

    PHASE 1: Conducting a desk review of existing materials (internally and externally) to provide a report of appropriate contents for the manual.

    PHASE 2: Development of the manual with training tool kits.

    PHASE 3: Validation and trainings through workshop and adjusting based on feedback.

    Education

    • Master’s degree in water management, education, economics or related field or a combination of bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

    Experience

    • Experience in Water resource management
    • Experience and track record in curriculum development and providing similar training(s)
    • Previous experience in applied research / data collection
    • Previous experience in WASH sector or related work
    • Ability to communicate in both English and Kiswahili language is an added advantage.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Experienced in producing concise reports and presentations, training modules and materials.

    Regional Communications Training Consultant

    PURPOSE

    The area office plays a critical role in supporting capacity throughout the region. One of the areas that support is provided for is communications. The majority of our 9 country locations have a dedicated communications staff member who supports communications related interventions for all of the ongoing projects being implemented by the country office. A few countries do not have a dedicated communications person but typically have someone covering this responsibility on an ongoing basis. From the area office, the Communications Director provide support through regular meetings, content reviews, and country visits for capacity building.

    The goal of this consultancy is to provide ongoing support to the capacity building the Africa area office is providing to countries in the region in the form of a one-week communications training with all of the regional communications points of contact. Upon completion of the training, participants will develop a clearer understanding of the process of developing and implementing communication strategies and an ability to apply appropriate communications approaches and tools in their various contexts. More specifically, they will know how to:

    • Develop a communication strategy document – this will be an actual strategy for each of the countries:
      • Set communication goals and objectives.
      • Develop key messages that effectively speak to the target audience.
      • Identify effective communication techniques and tools.
      • Plan available communication resources.
    • Implement and monitor the communications strategy

    The planning on overall logistics for the event will be coordinated by the area office.

    SCOPE OF CONSULTANCY

    The aim of the consultancy would be to:

    • Support AO communications team to diagnose capacity challenges at the National Organizations (3 days)
    • Conduct an analysis / diagnosis on current communications systems in the region (3 days)
    • Work with the area office to identify objectives and topics for the one-week training (3 days)
    • Draft training materials and tools for the training – all done in coordination and planned with the area office (5 days)
    • Coordinate the training agenda and communicate it - through the area office staff to National Organizations communications staff (2 days)
    • Deliver the training – provide in person training from 13th – 17th March 2023 (5 days) – by the end of the training each country office should have an actual draft communications strategy
    • Provide a post training report – that includes a summary of the event, annexes with the tools / training material and templates, lessons learned including current capacity development opportunities (5 days)

    KEY DELIVERABLES

    The deliverables will include:

    • A simple inception report: outlining the timeline, proposed training topics developed in consultation with the area office this should also include the draft agenda and roles and responsibilities
    • Training materials – a draft of these should be submitted prior to the training for review by the area office
    • Draft communications strategy for each of the country office represented including the Area Office
    • Provide a post training report – that includes a summary of the event, annexes with the materials / tools, lessons learned including current capacity development opportunities
    • The successful applicant will work in coordination with the area office and will actively seek review and feedback from the area office. We anticipate this work to take no more than 30 days of work (spread across the time from procurement to the training). Training will take place March 13 – 17, 2023.

    HFHI RESPONSIBILITIES

    • HFHI shall provide the support towards travel expenses related to this work.

    REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS

    • The consultant will be expected to report to the Communications Director, Africa.
