    Communications Intern- Inclusive Eye Health

    These are your responsibilities

    Social Media Management:

    • Develop and implement social media strategies across platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn).
    • Create engaging content, including graphics, captions, and posts, to increase our reach and impact.
    • Monitor social media channels, engage with our audience, and respond to queries.

    Website Content Creation:

    • Assist in the development and editing of website posts.
    • Ensure content aligns with our mission and voice.
    • Research and stay informed on relevant topics and news related to eye health and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).

    Deputy Chief of Party

    • CBM seeks to recruit Deputy Chief of Party based at the CBM Kenya Country Office. The job holder will provide strategic support in the management, implementation, technical leadership, and overall quality assurance of the USAID Jumuisha project. The incumbent will support the development of vision and plans for the project which are innovative and are aligned with the agency and donor programme strategies.

    This position is only filled locally. With contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.

    These are your responsibilities

    • Lead and facilitate the design and implementation of the project across result areas, while ensuring quality, responsiveness, and relevance of technical assistance and capacity building.
    • Coordinate development, implementation, monitoring and reporting on all project work plans.
    • Supervise program monitoring, evaluating, and reporting activities, ensuring that all project deliverables are met and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
    • In coordination with the Chief of Party, serve as a Pact liaison to USAID and national and local partners, including government officials, civil society, and community leaders, particularly on technical matters.
    • Coordinate with target public, private sector and civil society organizations and appropriate stakeholders in all aspects of project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
    • Supervise key technical staff, ensuring high-quality technical programming through hands-on guidance and support grounded in the program’s strategic objectives and adhering to expected technical quality and reporting requirements.
    • Assist with all programmatic aspects, ensuring that objectives are met on time and within budget.
    • Ensure rapid startup; day-to-day implementation of activities; working with the Chief of Party, oversee and coordinate tech outputs/activities, as well as sub-grantees, sub-contractors, and consultants.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact with USAID in absence of the Chief of Party with regard to day-to-day implementation and management matters related to the agreement.
    • Provide training and mentoring to partners to strengthen capacity for technical service delivery and compliance with donor rules and regulations.
    • Under the guidance of the Chief of Party, help recruit and directly support project staff in line with CBM HR policies; ensure a diverse, skilled, and productive project implementation team; nurture an organizational culture that focuses on quality performance.
    • Deliver technical presentations on project achievements to the donor, government and all other organizations.
    • Support with other tasks, as assigned by the Chief of Party.

    These are your qualifications

    • Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 5 years of management experience, or Bachelor’s and 10 years of experience.
    • At least 5-7 years of experience in the successful implementation of international development activities, with preference given to direct implementation of public health, health systems and/or health policy programming.
    • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to perform and collaborate in complex and politically sensitive project environments.
    • Possess qualities of subject matter expertise in disability inclusive development, partnership management particularly for marginalized groups.
    • Be fully conversant on global, regional, and local best practices and evidence-based approaches in disability inclusion, organization capacity development and systems strengthening, and results based management.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing a diverse team of employees and partners with conflict sensitivity.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local organizations, government institutions, private sector entities, and funders.
    • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, negotiating, decision-making, and consensus building.
    • Knowledge of the political, social, and economic context of Kenya
    • Ability to travel within Kenya and occasionally internationally.
    • Broad understanding of public health, health systems, and health policy and practice in Kenya.
    • Experience working on and leading teams for USAID contracts and/or cooperative agreements and/or knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, and policies.

    Senior Grants and Compliance Manager

    • CBM seeks to recruit Senior Grants and Compliance Manager based at the CBM Kenya Country Office. The position holder will ensure compliance of the grant to donor requirements and CBM policies, compliance monitoring, budget management, reporting, documentation and support sub-awardees to align with donor requirements.

    These are your responsibilities

    • Oversees accounting operations and ensure compliance of the grant to the donor requirements for the USAID Jumuisha Project ensuring consistency in management of financial resources with organization's policies&procedures.Identifies operational challenges that affect the integrity of resource management.
    • Ensure financial and programmatic compliance of the grant to contractual obligations, donor requirements and CBM policies.
    • Coordinate with the programme and finance teams at CBM Country Office and subawardees to provide input in the grants, budget plans, reports, and workplans to ensure activities are feasible, achievable within contractual obligations, and comply with all relevant USAID and CBM policies and procedures.
    • Support the development / regular revisions of the grants and risk register as required for the project.
    • Prepare grant agreements, negotiation memos, and detailed budgets on a regular basis, ensuring attention to detail, compliance, and accuracy.
    • Act as the point of contact (PoC) for sub-awardees before and after awards ensuring thorough due diligence assessments are conducted and resulting recommendations are implemented, monitor sub-awardee activities to ensure quality implementation that is aligned to projected timeframes and budgets, and alert senior management of implementation challenges in a timely manner.
    • Support sub-awardees to align their systems and policies to comply with USAID grants financial regulations and policies as outlined in the grants manual or in Grant Contract/Sub-award agreement.
    • Support the finance department in reviewing Staff, and sub-awardees advance and expense liquidation reports and work on conflict resolutions, if any to keep the advances reconciled at all times.
    • Review quarterly transfer rates and monthly burn rates, update forecasts, track commitment and provide analysis to the Programme and Finance leads on major variances.
    • Support sub-awardees in the implementation and reporting on their grants.
    • Ensure the maintenance of all files, records and documents relating to CBM’s program and projects within the program portfolio.
    • Oversee grant closeout processes in line with guidance provided within the grant agreement or grants manual.

    • Experience working with USG supported projects and knowledge of financial rules and regulations, including fiscal controls and fund accounting procedures.
    • Grants Management Training experience highly preferred.
    • Possess analytical skills to identify and assess credibility of organizations eligible of grants; working knowledge.
    • Ability to conduct assessment and compliance checks and thereof capacity build partners on grants management and required reporting highly desirable.
    • Experience in mentoring, coaching and skills transfer.
    • Excellent representational and communication skills, written and oral proficiency in English.

    Chief of Party

    • CBM seeks to recruit a Chief of Party based at the CBM Kenya Country Office. The job holder will oversee USAID Jumuisha project ensuring programme quality and donor requirements are met. Develops relationships and consults with, and represents the organization to donors, official authorities and other NGOs; to ensure compliance and to develop opportunities for collaboration and general development.

    These are your responsibilities

    • Provide strategic direction of all project activities. Develops and updates the project strategic plan, ensuring that programmatic directions are technically sound, evidence-based, and consistent with USAID priorities.
    • Ensures the project achieves the greatest possible impact including providing the necessary leadership to inspire and motivate the project team to implement performance objectives and mandates in a timely and cost-efficient fashion and meet the highest quality standards and value for money.
    • Develop a framework for learning and create an organizational culture of learning and knowledge sharing.
    • In collaboration with the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (AMEL)/Research Specialist provide leadership and direction to ensure robust monitoring and evaluation strategies, frameworks, plans, systems and indicators to capture and monitor/evaluate project resources, performance and results.
    • Collaborates closely with the Country Director, Project implementing agencies and their respective focal leads, design and operationalize an annual project planning cycle, which formulates comprehensive, integrated annual project workplans and budgets.
    • Provide overall leadership to all aspects of the project including final review of detail budgets, work plans, performance frameworks, Moniroting Learning and Adaptation plan, grants management plan etc.
    • Provide leadership to ensure highest quality implementation, in line with the government counterpart and sub-awardee high impact practices across project objectives / result areas.
    • Maintain strong relationships with both public institutions, private sector and civil society organizations e.g. Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Council of Governors, National Council for Persons with Disabilities, County Governments, Kenya Private Sector Alliance, Kenya Business Disability Network, organizations of persons with disabilities and other relevant local development organizations implementing USAID funded projects.
    • Lead team to provide proper coordination and guidance among local government, country-wide initiatives, community partners, NGOs and other key stakeholders
    • Emphasize data capture, analysis and use and learning for ongoing program improvement and adaptation.
    • Establish compliance with USG regulations, procedures and CBM guidelines and procedures.
    • Represent CBM with partners and key stakeholders, maintain positive relationships with USAID, line ministries and state agencies, and other key stakeholders.
    • Establish effective communication and coordination with personnel from subawardees and the government in order to implement interventions and incorporate country-wide priorities.
    • Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where the project team strives to achieve excellence. Ensure a cohesive workplace for optimum staff retention.

    • Minimum (10 ) ten years of professional experience designing, managing and implementing international institutional donor funded projects of similar nature and value.
    • At least ten years of senior program experience working and living in a developing country, preferably with experience living in Kenya.
    • Knowledge of Government of Kenya rules and regulations.
    • In-depth knowledge of USAID approaches and regulations.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
    • Willingness to commit and adhere to CBM mandate, mission, vision and values
