    Intern - Treasury and Finance Control

    Job Description

    The intern will report to The Country Finance Officer: Treasury and Finance control and will be charged with the following responsibilities:

    • Assisting with scanning documents.
    • Assisting with verifying and analysing quotes for the selected supplier for review.
    • Preparing payments in Sap by Design and in the bank platform
    • Updating suppliers on all payments made i.e., relevant details of the payment.
    • Preparing the cheque register and processing the  bank reconciliations.
    • Ensuring that new suppliers have provided all relevant information required to be added in SAP by Design e.g., bank details, postal addresses.
    • Updating the new suppliers with master data after approval by Country Finance Manager
    • Reconciling M-PESA payments for participants.
    • Preparing LPO in the system after the supplier has been approved and go ahead for LPO given.
    • Follow up on invoice submission and uploading the invoices in the shared folders and requesting statements from suppliers.
    • Checking for completeness of documents before payments are done.
    • Reviewing invoices and check whether they match with the LPO.
    • Finding and preparing documents in preparation for project audits and filing them back in an orderly manner.
    • Reviewing expenses returned by staff to check if they reconcile with work advance given and prepare a spreadsheet for approval.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by Country/ Project Finance Officer.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or business administration with a CPA Part 3.
    • Currently in the final year of undergraduate degree or completed his/her studies.
    • Knowledge of NGO/ International development financial policies would be an added advantage.

    Intern - Finance Project Control

    Job Description

    An opening exists within SNV Kenya for an internship with the finance department. The intern will support project controls with the following responsibilities:

    • Audit Expense Reports (ERs) and ensure they are sufficiently supported.
    • Support retrieving audit documents (Local, Corporate, and project specific)
    • Assist in verifying and analysing quotes for selected suppliers for review.
    • Track payments for suppliers, consultants, partners, and staff ERs to ensure that they are settled/reimbursed on time
    • Support in preparing monthly internal BVAs for submission to the Project Managers, Sector Leaders, and other stakeholders
    • From time-to-time travel to the field to support advisors in filling the MPESA reimbursement forms; ensure all details are accurate.
    • Review Quarterly FRs from Subgrantees (Partners, Business Cases), and preparing review reports for signing by the relevant PFOs, Business Case Managers, and PMs
    • Read vastly on SNV policies and project management execution policies, different donor rules and regulations, statutory laws, taxation, and practically apply them in delivery of the daily finance tasks
    • Assist in donor budget preparations (for new proposals or addendum)
    • Assist in collating support documents for donor reporting (Quarterly, Half Annually, Annually etc)
    • Participate in SNV’s extra curriculum activities and contribute to learning, improvement and implementation of finance policies, SNV 2030 strategy
    • Check and follow up that all payments made have the respective POPs.
    • Confirm the correctness of vehicle mileages.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or business administration with a CPA Part 3.
    • At least 1 year experience in Finance and accounting
    • Knowledge of NGO/ International development financial policies would be an added advantage.
