    Communications and Advocacy Officer

    RELATIONSHIPS All departments to ensure seamless flow of HFH programme and operations processes

    Job Purpose

    Working under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the National Director, the Communications and Advocacy Officer designs, manages and implements the HFHK’s communications strategy with the objective of increasing the visibility and promoting the work of HFHK in the country, as well as increasing awareness for HFHK’s mandate and programmes among its partners, the media and the general public. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting efforts to enhance the information flow and visibility of HFHK’s programs in the country.

    The Communication and Advocacy Officer works in close collaboration with the HFHK’s Senior Management team, Program team, HFHI’s Communications team, Government officials and media representatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of Bachelors’ degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field– (Master’s degree will be a plus).
    • Training in advocacy and/or behavior change communications will be a strong asset.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Ability to work independently, suggest practical solutions and follow–up effectively on the management decisions.
    • Good knowledge of visual design and layout development for information materials
    • Good planning skills, proactivity, creativity, and ability to meet the established deadlines.
    • Skills in photography and image processing.
    • Ability to conceptualize, design and implement major information campaigns
    • Communication, presentation, networking, and advocacy skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
    • Good research and analytical skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English both in writing and in speech.
    • Emotional intelligence: Remains calm in stressful situations
    • Ability to travel to program areas on duty frequently.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in media and communications.
    • Experience of working at or with HFHK entity or other international organization is an asset.
    • Background knowledge on development issues and /or areas related to the HFH mandate (affordable and inclusive housing will be a strong asset).
    • Practical experience in working with media including personal contacts among key media and in organizing media events and press conferences, as well as arranging interviews.
    • Experience with design & implementation of Advocacy and Communications strategies and understanding of trends in the development sector,

    Finance Manager

    REPORTS TO National Director

    PURPOSE

    The Finance Manager will report to the National Director (ND) and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of budgeting; financial management and reporting. The FM will provide leadership and guidance to the Finance Unit of HFHK and ensuring that all financial resources that come into the organization are recorded, tracked, and accounted for and used in fulfillment of the core mission of the organization of building and renovating houses that ensure families live in decent houses and decent communities. He/she initiates policies and procedures that ensure the effective and efficient use of financial and administrative resources.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics or related fields.
    2. Professional Qualification CPA/ACCA/CIM
    3. Must be a registered member of ICPAK

    EXPERIENCE 

    • 5 – 7 years work experience in a busy organization, private business or Non–Governmental Organization, out of which 2 should have been in a senior accountant position.
    • At least 5 of those years should be as a Senior Accountant level with responsibilities for overseeing the Finance function of an organization.

    Project Officer – Financial Inclusion

    REPORTS TO Senior Program Manager

    RELATIONSHIPS All departments to ensure seamless flow of HFH programme and operations processes

    Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Project Officer – Financial Inclusion will be responsible for assisting in the implementation and support of facilitation projects that make beneficial housing products and services accessible to households within the geographic focus of the program. The position holder will have an exciting opportunity to utilize his/her strong knowledge of microfinance to partner with financial service organizations and institutions or similar networks to promote and further advance the Housing Finance & Market Development program to help address shelter needs of low–income people in Kenya.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Microfinance, Commerce, Business Administration, or similar field.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Negotiation and influence skills.
    • Strong analytical, research and report writing skills as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
    • Independent, self–starter and creative
    • Ability to work under minimum or no supervision
    • Must be a team player and ready to work in and contribute to team building environment
    • Team builder, appreciates cultural diversity and inclusion, safeguarding/ protection issues etc
    • Computer literate with good presentation skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3+ years of relevant work experience in finance or microfinance product development, project evaluations, project management and related research or studies.
    • Conversant with the microfinance industry in Kenya.
    • Experience designing and implementing loan or financial products focusing on decent and affordable housing.

    MEAL Officer

    REPORTS TO Senior Program Manager

    DIRECT SUPERVISEES None

    RELATIONSHIPS All departments to ensure seamless flow of HFH programme and operations processes

    Job Purpose:

    Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, MEAL Officer will adapt and implement MEAL guidelines and tools in HFHK and provides support with organizational MEAL and related standards. The purpose of the position is to support the improvement of program and project efficiency and effectiveness, decision making and learning during the project life cycle through Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning. In carrying out his/her work, the MEAL Officer interacts with other technical Officers in HFHK, Africa Hub, HFHI global, partner organizations and communities across Kenya that HFHK serves.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, especially in the social sciences, development studies social work, or any other relevant discipline.
    • Specialization and/or professional certification in monitoring and evaluation.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis and statistics.
    • Familiarity with statistical packages, qualitative data analysis software and IT applications to support MEAL and knowledge management
    • Project management experience required
