    Advocacy Manager (Global Scope)

    • The Advocacy Manager will lead external advocacy efforts, developing positive relationships with external stakeholders, including intergovernmental, governmental, and faith organizations, policymakers, and donors. They will represent the Network on national and international platforms and amplify the voices of Faith to Action Network’s 140 members in over 24 countries.
    • The Advocacy Manager also collaborates with the Programs Unit and Communications Team to align advocacy and communication strategies, build member capacity, and promote Faith to Action Network’s vision and mission. The role is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s advocacy strategies to raise the profile of Faith to Action Network and its members. The role also engages diverse stakeholders, influences policy, and positions the Network as a thought leader.

    Key focus areas include:

    • Advancing advocacy strategies and platforms.
    • Building partnerships and coalitions.
    • Coordinating global and regional events.
    • Creating and disseminating impactful advocacy materials.
    • Supporting leadership in strategic engagements.
    • Supporting resource mobilization and fundraising efforts

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Advocacy Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and maintain an advocacy strategy for Faith to Action Network, including organization-wide processes to define advocacy priorities for policy change at regional and global levels.
    • Define key advocacy opportunities and targets at national, regional, and global levels, ensuring a strong power analysis to inform the advocacy strategy.
    • Provide strategic direction for Faith to Action Network’s advocacy, campaigns, and governance work, ensuring advocacy is an integral part of the Network’s Theory of Change.
    • Identify internal and external influencing opportunities that align with Faith to Action Network’s mission and liaise with key stakeholders, including intergovernmental organizations (e.g., SADC, ECOWAS, EAC, AU) and UN agencies, to ensure the Network remains informed and responsive to advocacy opportunities.
    • Collaborate with program teams to integrate advocacy and campaigns into holistic program design, planning, and implementation, ensuring evidence and best practices generated by Faith to Action Network’s programs inform advocacy work.
    • Support regional advocacy initiatives by providing technical assistance to Faith to Action Network members and partners.
    • Facilitate member participation in regional platforms, amplifying their voices and strengthening their influence.
    • Advocacy and Campaigns
    • Develop and nurture relationships with key advocacy coordination groups within Faith to Action Network and among its partners to strengthen alignment with global advocacy and campaign strategies.
    • Ensure Faith to Action Network’s advocacy work is informed by global advocacy strategies and regional priorities while remaining responsive to emerging opportunities.
    • Produce high-quality advocacy products, including research reports, policy briefs, case studies, and campaign materials, to inform and advance advocacy efforts.
    • Lobby decision-makers and influencers at high levels to promote Faith to Action Network’s advocacy messages and priorities.
    • Manage the implementation of advocacy campaigns, working closely with program teams to devise and execute effective campaign tactics and regularly review their impact.
    • Collaborate with the Communications Team to increase visibility of Faith to Action Network’s work across continents.
    • Advocacy Strategy Impact assessment
    • Establish monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the implementation and impact of advocacy and campaign work.
    • Ensure that Faith to Action Network’s key performance indicators and standards for advocacy and campaigns are met.
    • Promote evidence-based learning by documenting lessons learned, effectively disseminating findings, and incorporating them to improve advocacy and campaign delivery.
    • Coordination and Networking
    • Monitor and pursue speaking opportunities at global and regional events to promote Faith to Action Network’s thematic priorities and establish its thought leadership.
    • Backstop the CEO and Deputy CEO in their participation in global and regional coalition meetings, campaigns, and events.
    • Build the capacity of Faith to Action Network’s members and partners in advocacy, ensuring they can effectively engage in policy processes at local, regional, and global levels.
    • Maintain direct communication with officials and decision-makers within these regional bodies to influence policy processes.
    • Develop shared advocacy messages and initiatives with other organizations active in these regions, leveraging joint efforts to strengthen Faith to Action Network’s impact.
    • Event Coordination and Visibility
    • Support the planning and coordination of advocacy campaigns, meetings, and events targeting regional and global platforms.
    • Collaborate with the Communications Team to highlight advocacy successes within these platforms and raise awareness about policy wins.
    • Resource Mobilization and Fundraising
    • Identify funding opportunities related to advocacy and engagement within existing and new stakeholders collaborating with the Resource Mobilization Team to secure resources.
    • Participate in develop funding proposals and reports showcasing advocacy achievements in these regions.

    Academic Qualifications & Experience

    • Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, project management or related field.
    • Advocacy training
    • Experience
    • Proven experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies at local, regional, and global levels.
    • At least 8 years of professional experience coordinating advocacy interventions across multiple countries.
    • Demonstrable expertise in engaging with diverse stakeholders, including faith-based organizations, policymakers, and donors.
    • Experience writing and publishing advocacy materials such as policy briefs, case studies, Op-Eds, and blogs.
    • Strong track record in resource mobilization and donor relations.
    • Experience in managing advocacy campaigns, producing impactful communication materials, and securing funding for advocacy initiatives.
    • Strong writing, reporting, and public speaking skills.
    • Strong writing and editorial skills in English, preferably also in French.
    • Proven and demonstrable experience in high level writing, documentation and information packaging.

    Social Behaviour Change Communication Campaigns -Long-Term Consultancy Services to Design, Implement & Evaluate Social Behaviour Change Communication

    The consultant will provide professional and high-quality services, including:

    • Utilise social listening tools to develop baseline and endline assessments and to routinely monitor sentiments and to identify prevalent narratives and influencers. Based on these analyses develop actionable recommendations to inform social and behaviour change programmes, including on audience needs and interests, use of communication channels, messaging.
    • Develop an IT-based interface between existing social listening tools and Faith to Action Network needs.
    • Train Faith to Action Network staff and offer technical assistance in utilising social listening tools
    • Develop and implement faith-based social and behaviour change campaigns. Inter alia, this includes audience analysis, (user-centred) message design, choice of communication channels, developing SBCC plans and strategies, implementing communication activities, facilitating communication workshops, develop communication products.
    • In order to carry out multi-lingual SBCC campaigns, provide translation and interpretation services in multiple languages. Inter alia, this includes translation, interpretation, proofreading, quality check.

    Taxes

    Faith to Action Network will deduct applicable withholding tax as per Kenyan tax regulations. The consultant is responsible for any other tax liabilities arising from the assignment.

    Duration of Agreement:

    • The long-term agreement is signed for a duration of three years. The long-term agreement is renewable every three years.
    • Specific purchase orders are signed for arising deliverables (no quantities guaranteed).

    Duty Station

    Remote or home-based consultancy with virtual or face-to-face meetings as necessary.

    Applicable jurisdiction

    The contract will be made up under the jurisdiction of Kenya and of no other country.

     Institutional Arrangements

    • Moreover, the consultant is expected to consider that he/she will perform the needed work using his/her own property and technology, and hold direct responsibility for the quality of delivered outputs. The consultant is responsible for all taxes AND insurances AND registration demands of either the workplace or the tools used to produce the desired results.
    • Provisional approval of submitted material shall take place as decided in the Purchase Orders defining deliverables and milestones. It is expected that such approval shall not exceed five working days from the notification of the completion of a specific milestone.

    Upon submission of each final material, the Officer-in-Charge shall respond within maximum of five working days and the decision may either be:

    • Approval,
    • Approval with reservations upon which the Consultant shall reply within five working days under penalty of rejection, or
    • Rejection with clear justifications.

    Confidentiality and Authorship

    • The title rights, copyrights and all other rights of whatsoever nature for any material produced under this consultancy are the sole and exclusive property of Faith to Action Network. The consultant will submit all materials to Faith to Action Network. Therefore, all materials will not be disseminated in part or whole without express authority from Faith to Action Network. The consultant shall not produce information in these materials in any form (electronic, hard copies, etc.) to a third party without a written permission from Faith to Action Network. All materials will have the logo of Faith to Action Network. The name of the producer / consultant can be added to the end credits.

    Payments

    Payments will be made upon submission and approval of invoices and related deliverables. The fee is a fixed rate for 3 years and it is all-inclusive of all costs to deliver the products agreed upon. Reimbursable costs are listed separately.

    Requirements for experience and qualifications

    • Years of Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
    • Social and behaviour change communication
    • Sexual and reproductive health and rights, women’s rights, gender equality, peace, inclusion and justice or related fields,

    Competencies:

    • Excellent communication experience
    • Excellent experience in ICT including artificial intelligence
    • Excellent experience in sentiment analysis
    • Excellent experience in monitoring, evaluation and research
    • Excellent experience in capacity development in above fields
    • Excellent experience in translation and interpretation
    • Fluency in English,
    • Ability to work in French desirable.

    Interested individual consultants or consultant firms are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for delivery of the assignment. The EOI should include:

    • A cover letter outlining the suitability of consultant for the assignment, motivation and summarising relevant experience.
    • A technical proposal describing the applicants’ qualifications, including examples of past works
    • CVs of the consultants who will be carrying out the work – indicating for each consultant the consultancy rates applied. The CVs should provide a full description of the consultants’ profiles and experiences, including a list of previous works conducted.
    • A financial proposal indicating
    • the daily consultancy rate, at a work day of 8 hours per day, in EUR or in USD as applicable including all taxes the consultant expects to pay at their fiscal domicile
    • the fiscal domicile
    • Bank account and if applicable any intermediate bank for international transfers. Additional bank costs to receive international payments cannot be charged to Faith to Action Network.
    • Contact details from at least two independent referees with in-depth and proven knowledge of the applicant’s expertise and relevant work experience. This should include the references’ e-mails addresses and direct phone numbers.
