    Regional Compliance Officer

    The Regional Compliance Officer (RCO) will support the Finance and Operations Leadership for Africa by monitoring country program implementation of operational policies and procedures, including finance, grants management, human resources, and other operational functions performed in the Africa country program offices. The RCO will perform systematic sampling and testing of financial and operational activity for compliance with Conservation International’s internal policies/procedures and external requirements. The RCO will also work under the guidance of the Deputy Director ERM to implement CI’s Risk-based Approach, including a plan to monitor the operations of the region, designed to identify potential chances/incidents of non-compliance and fraud.

    The position is based at any of our African country offices, reporting to the Finance and Operations Senior Director. The RCO will also work very closely with the appropriate staff in the finance, Grants & Contracts, HR, and Global Administration divisions to facilitate consistent application of policies and procedures globally and disseminate lessons learned.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Financial Monitoring

    • Perform a combination of random and targeted sampling protocols to review the accuracy, legitimacy and compliance of financial activity throughout the division. Test transactions and support documentation across several protocols, including the review of original (or scanned) source documentation. Maintain complete and accurate work papers that will be reviewed by the internal and external auditors.
    • Perform detailed review of monthly accounting schedules and reconciliations prepared by each country office for completeness, timeliness and accuracy. Advise the Sub-Regional Operations leads, internal auditor and Director of Field Accounting of any irregularities.

    Operations Monitoring

    • Perform a combination of random and targeted sampling protocols to review the accuracy, legitimacy and compliance of operational activity throughout the division, including Human Resources, procurement/preferred vendors, fixed assets & equipment, and safety & security. Test the transactions and support documentation across several protocols including the review of original (or scanned) source documentation. Maintain complete and accurate work papers that will be reviewed by the internal and external auditors.

    Grants Management Monitoring

    • Perform a combination of random and targeted sampling protocols to review the accuracy, legitimacy and compliance of grant-making operations activity throughout the division. Test the transactions and support documentation across several protocols including the review of original (or scanned) source documentation. Maintain complete and accurate work papers that will be reviewed by the internal and external auditors.
    • Ensure compliance with CI’s Grants and Contracts policies and procedures.

    Internal audit support and Project/Donor assessment

    • Work with Risk and Internal Audit departments to facilitate resolution of internal audit findings.
    • Work with Risk Management, Internal Audit, US Finance, Grants Management and HR teams to develop capacity building tools and training modules for compliance and management training.
    • Liaise with the Risk Management, Internal Audit, US Finance, Grants Management and HR teams as required to ensure implementation of best practices and changes to CI’s policy environment. Work with the Risk & Internal Audit departments to identify compliance vulnerability and risk and proactively develop corrective measures.
    • Assist with internal compliance investigations as requested.

    Training & Assurance

    • Support institutional training efforts related to compliance & policy implementation.
    • Support compliance and assurance efforts both globally and within the country programs.
    • Support Sub-Regional Operations leads by performing a mentor/guide role to the country programs within the division to ensure compliance with donor policies and local HR/Finance/Operations policies.

    People and Resource Management Responsibilities

    • This position does not manage staff, an operating budget, or public or private funds. Typically assists peers, temporary employees, contractors, or volunteers.

    Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • 2 years of experience in Risk-based Approach to financial audit.
    • Demonstrated understanding of compliance requirements of bilateral and/or multilateral funding sources, including USAID, World Bank, GEF/GCF, European Union, etc.
    • Understanding of risks and related relevant controls in the grant cycle,e including program, financial and procurement cycles.

    Senior Coordinator - Project Delivery, Monitoring and Evaluation

    The Senior Coordinator – Project Delivery, Monitoring and Evaluation is a core member of the Strategy & Delivery team, responsible for developing and managing systems and processes that enhance project performance, enable data-driven decision-making, and ensure robust monitoring and evaluation across the Africa portfolio. The role will work closely with country and regional teams, as well as global M&E specialists, to build and implement frameworks that align with organizational goals and support landscape-level conservation delivery.

    Reporting to the Conservation Strategy Senior Manager, this role will serve as a technical and operational bridge across teams, improving consistency, oversight, and impact measurement of conservation programming. This includes coordinating quarterly performance monitoring, supporting global reporting efforts, and designing data systems to elevate project learning and accountability. The role requires structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a team-oriented mindset to help translate strategy into actionable insights and measurable results.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate quarterly performance monitoring and reporting across the Africa region, developing systems to track progress against key strategic and programmatic indicators.
    • Identify risks, delivery issues, and performance trends, and escalate where necessary to senior management with recommended mitigation actions.

    Managing Director, Operations & Finance -Africa

    The Managing Director, Finance and Operations – Africa is a senior leader responsible for the strategic financial and operational management of Conservation International’s Africa Field Management Unit (FMU). The role ensures financial integrity, risk mitigation, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across all country programs and sub-regions.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    Conservation Strategy Senior Manager

    The Conservation Strategy Senior Manager serves as a strategic leader within Conservation International’s Africa Field Management Unit (FMU). The role is responsible for driving the design, implementation, and adaptive management of integrated conservation strategies across priority landscapes, aligned with CI’s new strategy for Africa, which aims to unlock finance to support up to 20 iconic landscapes across the continent.

    Director, IT Support Lead - Africa

    The role holder also advises regional leaders and SDOs on technology strategy, planning, and budget needs, helping them to understand how best to allocate resources for maximum impact. They support system upgrades and deployments, ensuring these are performed smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, they ensure compliance with CI IT standards by conducting regular audits and reviews, guaranteeing that all processes adhere to established guidelines and policies

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with the team on any IT security-related activities in the region and coordinate with the infrastructure team to develop processes and procedures to mitigate the impact of potential risks to the global network.
    • Work with the Infrastructure team to install, maintain, and troubleshoot all critical system components of the CI Global Network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, switches, and servers located in CI’s international offices.
    • Coordinate network deployments and maintenance visits to implement IT projects in the CI Africa offices and implement upgrades on systems as needed.
    • Assist with the resolution of IT Risk Audit findings in the region expeditiously.

    • Work with IT peers in other regions on account management in terms of assigning permissions, password resets, and to ensure other resource access levels are functioning efficiently and continuously from onboarding through account terminations.
    • Assist in the establishment and enforcement of CI’s Standard Policies and Procedures while maintaining a conduit between CI HQ and the FMUs on feedback and improving CI’s IT-related policies and standards.
    • Work with the Level 1 country-based technicians in the region to develop a support process to address and enhance IT responsiveness for the users and with the support of the Regional IT coordinator, develop a workflow process to ensure that user requests are properly documented in the ticketing system and responded to and resolved in a timely manner.
    • Work with the IT management team to monitor and evaluate new technologies to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing environments.
    • Engage with the Infrastructure team in research and technology required for implementation and improvements of the Field IT systems, and help to design a performance monitoring system for visibility into system availability.
    • Work with the Global Support Lead and the IT Solution Team Lead as a liaison regarding programmatic and communications of IT-related issues in the Africa region.
    • Participate in the IT Division’s Strategic planning process from a Regional and Field perspective.
    • Engage in the coordination of IT support operations for optimal CI participation at international conferences.

    Executive Assistant

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist executives on all administrative matters.
    • Screen incoming correspondence, calls, and requests, and determine priority and appropriate disposition. Ensure that critical and sensitive information flows to executives in a timely manner. Develop appropriate follow-up procedures.

    Manager, Knowledge Management and Communications - West Africa

    The Manager, Knowledge Management and Communications, West Africa, will play a key role in ensuring that the Guinean Forests Regional Coordination Project (RCP) effectively facilitates knowledge exchange, learning, and communication among state and non-state actors across the Guinean Forests Biome.

    Working under the guidance of Conservation International and in close collaboration with BirdLife International, this position will develop and implement strategies for knowledge management, branding, and communications.     • Develop and implement the Guinean Forests Communications and Outreach Strategy, Branding Strategy, and Knowledge Management Strategy in collaboration with CI, BirdLife International, and program partners.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for program information requests, managing inquiries through the program’s online portal and other channels.
    • Coordinate with country project leads and GEF Implementing Agencies to ensure effective information flow and knowledge sharing across countries.
    • Oversee the design and maintenance of the program’s online portal, working with CI teams and external partners to ensure up-to-date content.
    • Develop communication materials, including reports, case studies, and briefing documents, to support collaboration between CI and its partners.
    • Work with CI-GEF’s communications teams to ensure public-facing materials align with branding and messaging guidelines.
    • Manage the program’s social media presence, posting regular updates, knowledge products, webinar announcements, and project press releases.
    • Coordinate the development of field stories and creative content from country projects for dissemination through digital platforms.
    • Identify opportunities to amplify the program’s visibility through press releases, publications, and engagement with external media outlets.
    • Support the organization and promotion of knowledge-sharing events, webinars, and training sessions.
    • Provide expertise in tailoring knowledge products for different audiences and ensuring their effective dissemination.

    Program Website & Social Media Management:

    • Regularly update the program website with news, events, publications, blog posts, and relevant content.
    • Maintain the Program’s active social media presence, including:
    • Developing a weekly and monthly social media calendar in coordination with CI and BirdLife communications leads.
    • Managing daily social media activities on Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
    • Identifying and amplifying partner content that aligns with program priorities.
    • Monitoring social media engagement and tracking analytics to optimize content strategy.
    • Supporting the preparation and coverage of program-related conferences and events, including Twitter/X live spaces.

    Program Newsletter & Graphic Design:

    • Design and produce the quarterly program newsletter, ensuring high-quality visuals and engaging content (distributed via Mailchimp or similar platforms).
    • Develop branded communication materials, including reports, infographics, social media graphics, and promotional materials (e.g., roll-up banners).
    • Collaborate with CI and BirdLife communications teams to ensure all design work aligns with CI, GEF, Birdlife’s, and the program’s branding guidelines.
    • Provide creative input and refinements to enhance the program’s overall visual identity.

    Knowledge Management:

    • Design and manage the program’s knowledge management database, ensuring efficient storage, curation, and retrieval of key resources.
    • Develop knowledge management products (e.g., case studies, lessons learned, best practices) to capture and share insights from project implementation.
    • Coordinate with CI-GEF, other GEF Implementing Agencies, and Integrated Programs to exchange best practices in knowledge management and learning.
    • Organize and facilitate knowledge exchange activities, such as expert panels, study tours, and focus groups.
    • Provide additional knowledge management support as needed.

    Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor and the Guinean Forests Program Lead at BirdLife International

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Extended work hours may be required, including non-traditional hours in a global organisation.
    • International travel (up to 30%) may be required.
    • Guidance on flexible work arrangements will be provided during the interview process.
    • This role will be a fixed-term assignment.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism (TV or Newsprint), or related field.
    • 4 to 6 years of related work experience with communication or reporting in the areas of environment, social work, and/or development.
    • Experience working with organizations working in conservation and/or development.
    • Strong ability to work independently and/or remotely while maintaining productivity.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in team environments and cultivate productive collaboration across a diversity of stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality content and products subject to strict deadlines.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including public speaking skills.
    • Excellent team player.
    • Excellent adaptive management skills.
    • Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, web design, and video editing software.
    • Proven experience managing social media networks for tangible engagement and results, including Meta, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Twitter/X, etc.

    Preferred

    • Fluency in written and spoken English with professional knowledge in Portuguese or French is an added advantage.
    • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
    • Experience managing online portals.
    • Experience managing social media platforms/networks.
    • Experience working in cross-sector multistakeholder programs
