    Seconds, Scrap & Waste Manager (Mariakani)

    Description

    MRM- Mariakani is seeking to recruit a professional and experienced individual to fill the position of a Seconds, Scrap and Waste Manager. This position reports to the Operations and Planning Manager.

    Main purpose of the position:

    Coordinate movement, storage, processing and handover of rejects and waste material for disposal.

    Key responsibilities

    • Ensure timely and seamless transportation of Rejects, seconds, scraps and waste from main plants to Rejects handling facility;
    • Liaise with sales to ensure timely lifting of waste, scrap, seconds and rejects;
    • Ensure efficient processing and conversion of waste, scrap, seconds and rejects coming from main plants to saleable forms;
    • Assist with development and oversees waste management schemes and initiatives to support re-use, recycle and disposal as necessary;
    • Ensure compliance with current legislation in the transportation, handling and disposal of rejects, seconds, scraps and waste;
    • Control costs of material disposal activities and aim to meet waste reduction and recycling targets;
    • Collate statistics and compile reports on rejects, seconds, scrap and waste generation and disposal;
    • Monitor waste & scrap levels in the entire MRM and initiate appropriate reduction action as necessary;
    • Ensure correct and accurate posting and transfers in ERP - SAP system;
    • Support Maintenance programmes to ensure machines, Cranes and other equipment are healthy;
    • Provide Technical support for daily facility activities. Actively participate in problem solving for safety, health and productivity improvement;
    • Monitor and control key consumables in Rejects handling facility;
    • Prepare of manpower and contractor work schedules to ensure effective and efficient processing, handling and storage of material in the facility at all times;
    • Ensure safe work practices and procedures at facility;
    • Implement training Programmes for staff;
    • Implement 5 K Programmes at Rejects handling facility;
    • Implement Continual Improvement Programmes under ISO 9001 / 14001 and Business Improvement through PIP and Health and Safety;
    • Implement cost reduction opportunities and Process improvements by working closely with the Operators and contractors;
    • Sales liaison with the sales team.

    Requirements

    1. Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Production Engineering.
    2. Minimum 5 years’ experience, 2 of these years must be at the Management level and 2 years’ experience at the shift engineer level.
    3. Proficiency in ERP SAP module will be an added advantage

    Technical Specification Manager (Athi River)

    Description

    • In charge of ultraspan design deliverables and design team to ensure we meet our customer expectations on quality, timelines and design efficiency optimization initiatives using latest design software’s available
    • Constant updating of CRM customer database and make additions where applicable.
    • Contribute and participate in regional monthly sales meetings
    • Demonstrate technical support competencies to main contractors reducing risk of changes to specification and reduce risk of value engineering
    • Develop strong relationships with architects with the view to forming trusting partnerships
    • Develop strong relationships with both main and sub-contractors as a trust-worthy solutions provider
    • Driving specification, existing and new products and systems, protect the future of the business
    • Encourage contractors to attend training at our Academies generating
    • Engage and support NPD process
    • Engage with the companies CRM system to manage and record appointments and other calendar activities
    • Ensure specifications are held by tracking the project from design phase to installation phase
    • Ensure specifications area secured through constant communication with relevant area sales manager
    • Identify and communicate new business opportunities
    • Identify project leads through lead providers converting to projects where applicable through the companies CRM system
    • Participate and engage with internal project teams
    • Participate in net-working events and seminars
    • Present targeted number of product CPD's to designers and industry stakeholders
    • promoting the brand and to inform customers of latest industry regulation changes and new product/system developments
    • Provide high levels of technical support, detailing and project specification packs to architects so as to reinforce project specifications
    • Record, track, update and manage projects in a timely fashion through the companies CRM system
    • Secure value added product sales through demonstration of the key features and benefits of the company products and systems
    • Support sub-contractors both on-site and during the tendering process
    • Support area sales managers with all technical issues

    Requirements

    Qualifications required:

    • Minimum academic qualification:  Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Science (Architecture, Civil Engineering)
    • Qualifications as an added advantage: a Marketing Course and/MBA
    • Professional registration: Engineering/Marketing

    Experience required:

    • General work experience (years):8 years in Design Management and Technical Sales
    • Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): Core expertise of 3 years’ experience in Technical Sales
    • Industry: Building/Construction
    • Personal Attributes specific to work requirement 
    • Experience of working with Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Main Contractors, Specialist Contractors is essential
    • Engineering or Architectural qualification
    • A tactical thinker who is commercially aware of the impact of decisions
    • Able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and a strong focus on achieving goals
    • Demonstrative technical ability in construction sector sales
    • Good influencing and networking skills and the proven ability to get things done through others by adopting a collaborative approach
    • Practical experience of working within the construction products sector
    • Previous technical experience in sales within the construction sector an advantage
