    WATSAN Supervisor

    Main Purpose

    Supporting the Logistics Manager in the implementation and supervision of Watsan activities, including tools and materials employed according to MSF standards and protocols, in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population.

    Accountabilities

    • Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to, water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management
    • Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project;
    • Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities;
    • Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation (e.g. physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.);
    • Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits
    • Supporting the Watsan Manager in the team planning (e.g. staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Watsan Manager in case of any major management or technical issue, and providing all required reporting
    • Planning and supervising the HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity
    • Participating in data collection and reporting as required  Keeping up inventory of Watsan stock and prepare orders  In all instances where it is stated reporting to the Watsan Manager I would add Log Manager as we do not have a Watsan manager position in our contract

    Requirements

    Education

    • Technical diploma, desirable specialization in water and sanitation

    Experience

    • Previous experience in technical works and organising of multiple activities
    • Experience with MSF preferably or with other INGO.
    • Essential: Experience in working with AYPs

    Languages

    • English and Kiswahili

    Health Promoter IEC Officer

    Main Purpose

    Implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities with patients and local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.

    Accountabilities

    • Inform patients and communities about MSF and services it provides.
    • According to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community on specific health topics
    • Implement activities of health education and awareness (sessions in schools, churches, community), under the indications and supervision of the HP Supervisor.
    • Under the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviors observations), and report problems, success and constraints to him/her.
    • Collect all type of information related to specific health and living conditions of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable populations to target.
    • Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
    • Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including other NGO’s, governmental health services that can provide answers to social problems.
    • Keep education and communication areas clean and tidy and professional materials available.
    • Participate in creation of any material needed for the activities of information, education and communication.

    MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

    • Ensure Voluntary peer educators are implementing activities of health education and awareness (sessions in Youth friendly center,Outreaches,Inreaches in the facilities and community), under the indications and supervision of the HP Supervisor.
    • Provide supportive supervision to the peer educators in the youth-friendly facility and community, utilising the approved tools and guidelines for supervision.
    • Facilitating qualitative data collection methods in collaboration with peer educators to identify the needs, challenges, and knowledge gaps of youths in facilities and communities we are working. (FGD, interviews, and responses) Assure accurate data gathering, compiling, and reporting during peer-led activities in youthfriendly facilities, outreach and in-reach programmes, and other peer educators-led health promotion activities in the community.
    • Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, achievements and challenges.
    • Establish and maintain working relationships with social partners in the relevant wards and subcounties, including CBOs and governmental health services (CHEW/CHV, Youth Focal Person, etc.)
    • Participate in the development of contextualised health education materials required for information, education, and communication activities.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Education level in social science, social communication, nurse or teaching It is necessary a internal MSF training on health messages

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in health promotion activities, teaching, nursing or social work, community mobilization
    • Experience with MSF preferably or with other INGO
    • Essential: working experience with AYKPs is a plus
