    Corporate Communications and Marketing Officer

    Job Specifications:

    • Reporting to the Principal Corporate Communication and Marketing Officer, the Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of the institution’s communication and marketing strategies. The Officer will be responsible for delivering communication and marketing activities in adherence to the provisions of the institutional policies, Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018, and any other relevant national legislation to corporate communication, branding, stakeholder engagement, and public relations.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in: -

    • Drafting publications on topical issues as well as speeches
    • Drafting speeches, briefs, press supplements, releases and feature articles
    • Screening media and publications touching on the Bandari maritime academy
    • Responding to ad-hoc queries from the public '
    • Drafting communication to external and internal public

    Person Specifications

    For appointment to this grade the candidate must have;

    • Bachelor’s degree Communication Studies; Mass Communication; Journalism, Public Relations; Information Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    • Proficiency in computer applications;
    • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

    Deputy Director Advancement and Placement

    Job Specifications:

    Reporting to the Director/CEO, the Deputy Director, Advancement and Placement, is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of programs that support the career advancement, placement, and professional development of trainees and alumni. This role ensures effective stakeholder engagement with industry partners, employers, and institutions to foster opportunities for internships, attachments, job placements, and career progression. The position supports the overall mandate of the institution in compliance with Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Deputy Director, Advancement and Placement is responsible for assisting in: -

    • Negotiate sea-time opportunities for the students
    • Establish linkages with stakeholders (both public and private) for purposes of developing and executing a framework for advancement and placement of graduates
    • Negotiate employment opportunities for graduates with major international shipping companies
    • Initiate the development of MOUs for purposes of placement and internship of students
    • Manage and coordinate exchange programs
    • Establish a framework, in liaison with the Chief Executive Officer, on opportunities for scholarship and sponsorship
    • Work in liaison with the administration for recognition of certificates internationally
    • Provide career services for students and graduates
    • Offer skills development to students to make them employable
    • Mentor students and offer career advice
    • Produce holistic graduates who are prepared for the job market and entrepreneurial activities
    • Establish and maintain a database for students and graduates

    Person Specifications:

    For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:

    • Twelve (12) years’ work experience, out of which five (5) years must have been in a management position
    • A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Marketing, Project Management, Development Studies, Communications, International Relations, Marine Engineering, or any other related field
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Marketing, Project Management, Development Studies, Communications, International Relations, Marine Engineering, or any other related field
    • At least twelve (12) years of relevant experience, preferably involving interactions with key players in the Maritime Industry, out of which four (4) years must have been in a management position
    • Proficiency in Computer Applications
    • Completion of a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
    • Ability to interact with multiple players in the maritime industry
    • Fulfilment of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya

    Trainer, Nautical Science

    Job specification:

    • Reporting to the Senior Trainer, the Trainer is responsible for training Students under the provisions of the respective School in accordance with Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping (STCW) 1978 as amended and other Maritime International Conventions.
    • The Trainer will assist in conducting practical training in vessel navigation, repairs and maintenance.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in: -

    • Designing, developing and delivering of training programmes
    • The development of Maritime Education and Training policies
    • Developing and reviewing curriculum
    • Developing the school calendar and time tabling
    • The development, evaluation of teaching, learning and assessment materials
    • Supervising trainees’ Practical sessions, Trade Projects and Business plans
    • Marking internal examinations
    • Maintaining students’ attendance and performance records
    • Ensuring workshop equipment are well maintained and in working condition

    Person Specifications:

    For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science from a University recognized in Kenya, OOW Reg II/1 or Master Reg. II/3 (less than 500 GT)
    • Relevant sea experience at management level will be an added advantage
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
