    Project Manager

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Program Leadership and Coordination
    • Provide overall leadership and coordination for the school feeding, clean cooking and school gardens program across multiple schools.
    • Translate approved proposals and budgets into detailed implementation plans and operational schedules.
    • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all project activities in line with donor agreements.
    • Team Management and Supervision
    • Coordinate field-based staff including School Managers, School Farm Managers, Program Assistants and School Operations staff.
    • Coordinate closely with Finance, Procurement, M&E Communications and external technical partners.
    • Build team capacity through mentoring, performance management and structured reporting systems.
    • Donor Compliance and Reporting
    • Ensure full compliance with donor requirements.
    • Coordinate the preparation of narrative progress reports, learning updates and operational briefs.
    • Support audits, donor reviews, learning visits and external evaluations.
    • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the primary operational liaison with school administrations, community leaders and project partners.
    • Support engagement with county and national government stakeholders on school feeding and sustainability initiatives.
    • Coordinate community engagement activities to strengthen ownership and participation.
    • Monitoring, Risk Management and Learning
    • Work closely with the M&E function to track progress against agreed indicators.
    • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
    • Contribute to organizational learning, documentation and scaling strategies.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Commerce, Development Studies, Agriculture, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
    • A Master’s degree is a strong advantage.

    Experience

    • At least 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience managing donor-funded development programs.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or complex projects.
    • Proven ability to supervise multidisciplinary teams.
    • Experience working with international donors or foundations preferred.

    School Farm Manager

    • The School Farm Manager is a technical and operational role responsible for the establishment, management and sustainability of school kitchen gardens and fruit tree orchards across four schools. This is a specialist role, requiring strong practical agricultural expertise to support food production, learning and climate-smart agriculture objectives under a new and innovative program model.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • School Farm and Garden Management
    • Establish, coordinate and manage kitchen gardens and fruit orchards across four schools.
    • Implement both conventional and vertical garden models as approved in the project design.
    • Develop seasonal planting and harvesting plans aligned with school feeding needs.
    • Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance
    • Supervise all day-to-day farm activities including land preparation, planting, irrigation, soil management, harvesting and basic storage.
    • Ensure adoption of regenerative and climate-smart agricultural practices.
    • Monitor crop health, yields, water use, and soil conditions.
    • Capacity Building and Learning
    • Train and support teachers, students, and 4K Clubs on kitchen gardening and sustainable agriculture.
    • Support demonstration and learning activities linked to agriculture education.
    • Work with technical partners and researchers to implement agreed farming methodologies.
    • Maintain accurate farm records, inputs usage logs and yield data.
    • Submit structured reports to the Program Manager.
    • Coordinate closely with school administrations and feeding teams to integrate farm outputs into meal planning

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    Education

    • Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field
    • A Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage

    Experience

    • At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing institutional farms, kitchen gardens or school farms.
    • Demonstrated experience with vegetable production and basic irrigation systems.
    • Experience implementing sustainable or regenerative agriculture practices preferred
