    Rose Senior Supervisor

    Responsibilities for the Senior Supervisor Job

    • Responsible in recruiting new staff.
    • Take an active role in training and assessment of staff.
    • Take an active role in staff motivation, creating a conducive work environment and actively participating in
      conflict resolution.
    • Collaborating with managers, team leaders and staff in work planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluating and follow up of set targets.

    Crop Management.

    • Ensure that appropriate crop husbandry practices are efficiently carried out and within set timeframe
    • Ensure cut point rules are strictly followed and adhered to.

    • Do crop walk in liaison with scouts and report to management of any pest or disease for appropriate action
    • In case of any pest or disease, report the action taken following the SOPs in place.

    Health and Safety

    • Ensure safe working environment by making sure health and safety regulations are followed and adhered to.
    • Also report any worn out or torn PPEs for repairs or to management for replacement.
    • Reporting on any damages to the green house, to maintenance team or to management for repairs. Ensure all
      working tools are in good working condition and are repaired in time.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate manager or senior management.

    Production Manager

    Responsibilities for the Production Manager Job

    Staff

    • To recruit staff and allocate them to the various teams.
    • To ensure that the field managers working in the section allocate daily work targets to staff and record performance of all team members
    • To ensure that all labour in the section is effective and efficient and that all staff achieve the recommended daily tasks.
    • To maintain staff discipline and welfare in accordance with the company policy.

    Planning

    • To plan all the farm/section operations for the month, week, and day in consultation with the farm manager.
    • To ensure that all crop husbandries i.e. land preparation, planting, weeding, irrigation and spraying etc. are done to the highest possible standard.
    • To confirm all picking predictions done by picking supervisors.
    • To ensure that produce is picked on time, handled carefully and is of high quality in accordance with the set standards.
    • To coordinate produce shading and transport to the pack house.
    • To communicate with farms daily and make regular visit to confirm quality issues.

    Audits / Standards

    • To ensure the company field operations adhere to customer standards (as per audit guidelines). Handle and address any deviation on standards (customer responses).

    Record Keeping

    • To ensure that various team leaders, scouts and supervisors keep accurate records of all operations carried out in their section.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the senior management.

    Qualifications for the  Production Manager Job

    • Bachelor of Science in Horticulture / BSc Agriculture Resource Management.
    • Above 5 yrs. experience in a busy Agricultural Sector.

    Nurse

    Role

    • To coordinate all first aid activities on the farm and be Chief first aider in the farm.
    • To sensitize all worker on the farm on importance of VCT and counselling.
    • Carry out health screening of all workers joining the farm and those from sick leave or leave before proceeding to their work place.
    • Administer nonprescriptive (over the counter) drugs as and when necessary.
    • Identifying ailments that are selfinduced, i.e. drinking and it’s after effects, personal injuries and illnesses sustained outside the work place.
    • Updating the general register as per the requirements of HOSSA, in regards to sickness, injuries and painting of buildings.
    • To advise and be keen on identifying and advising managements on disease outbreaks that poses a threat to food contamination.
    • To be the referral officer to cases that require advanced treatment to doctors and hospitals.
    • In charge of monitoring and report to management progress of employee patients taken to hospitals either in or outpatients.

    Health & safety

    • To advise management on incidences of occupational diseases, and preventative/control methods and procedures.
    • Responsible for all health and safety training on the farm.
    • Coordinate all matters on health and safety in the farm
    • Assist in the auditing of all health and safety issues.
    • Trainings
      To liaise with the officials from the ministry of health on training programmes that might be of importance to farm workers i.e. HIV campaign awareness
    • To coordinate all first aid training on the farm
    • Health education trainings general hygiene practices like washing of hands before handling food, after visiting the toilet, general body hygiene etc.

    Records

    • Responsible for completion of data, reports, records related to sickness/ illness on the farm
    • Keeping records on all injuries and accidents that occur on the farm by filling the
    • General register for factories and other work place as prescribed by the ministry of labour under section 62 of the act.
    • Keeping records on healthy screening of all workers joining the farm.

    Qualifications for the Nurse Job

    • Diploma/Degree in the relevant field
    • Experience of not less than 2 yrs. in a Farming sector especially Veg/Flower farms

    Packhouse Technical Manager

    Purpose/ Objective: Oversee overall Technical and QA management functions for the Packing site.

    Responsibilities for the Packhouse Technical Manager Job

    • Oversee all the post harvest quality systems.
    • Oversee development and implementation of relevant post harvest technical standards.
    • Run the Day’s Orders and the Next Day’s Orders, and confirmations.
    • Confirm and organize Production Boards, and processing efficiencies.
    • Look at staff efficiency rates; organize them from most efficient to least efficient.
    • Look at Raw Material utilization, stock reconciliations.
    • Handle staff issues.
    • Handle Packaging stocks, and orders and reorders for the same.
    • Organize the Floor, Cells as per our discussions yesterday.
    • Organize Sleeving on Line.
    • Sign and confirm Shipments and confirm pack lists.
    • Oversee development and implementation of the relevant technical SOPs.
    • Develop, Implement and review the quality management systems for the packing systems for the pack sites.
    • Liaise with the marketing teams in product specifications for customers.
    • Coordinate compliance to specs while processing (Which include but not limited to cut stage,
      devitalisation process & cool chain management).
    • Respond and correct issues on customer complaints.
    • Develop documentation and participate in review of all technical data and implementation and review of
      the current internal procedures as need arises or as advised.
    • Make and Implement a workable hygiene schedule for all sections of the pack house, develop rotas and
      compile a database for micro results.
    • Investigate and advise on responses and customer complaints for out of specifications microbial or
      chemical levels.
    • Documents control for the Pack house.
    • Act as a point of contact for the technical department, ensuring that queries receive timely and accurate
      responses.
    • Ensure all the cold rooms meet both hygiene and sanitation standards.
    • Ensure a smooth workable traceability system of all flowers from farm to dispatch.
    • Provide initiative in Developing, documenting and running of NPD/R&D department.
    • Stock management and issue of quality status of processed and ungraded stocks.
    • Ensure compliance to Environmental law/acts.
    • Develop & ensure a workable Pest/Rodent management system.

    Health & Safety Officer

    Responsibilities for the Health & Safety Job

    • Support the development of OHS policies and programs.
    • Advise and instruct on various safetyrelated topics.
    • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventive measures.
    • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
    • Initiate and organise OHS training of employees.
    • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or nonconformity.
    • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.

    Requirements for the Health & Safety Job

    • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
    • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
    • Outstanding organizational skills.
    • Diligent with great attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
    • Bachelor’s degree in safety management or relevant field is preferred
    • Proven track record in Vegetable Audits, Vegetable Farm Audits, Flower Audits, Legal/Statutory Audits.
