    Subject Officer

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in Education specializing in Biology;
    • Masters degree in Education in the relevant area from a recognized institution;
    • Not less than ten (10) years of teaching experience in Secondary or Post
    • Secondary Institution teaching Biology as a major subject or related assignment;
    • Must have undergone SMASSE training;
    • Must have evidence of knowledge and proficiency in Computer Applications;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.

    Responsibilities

    The Officer will be responsible for the planning, organizing, programming andcoordinating the development of Biology Examination papers and other related disciplines.

    Administrators

    Requirements

    • Masters Degree in Education in a relevant field from a recognized institution;
    • Served in the grade of Senior Examinations Administrator for three (3) years or in an equivalent and relevant position OR have a cumulative working experience of at least fifteen (15) years in a related field. Those below Job group ‘N’ in Government or TSC or its equivalent need not apply;
    • Must have evidence of knowledge and proficiency in Computer Applications;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity;
    • Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage;

    Responsibilities

    • Estimate and present logistical requirements of examinations administration;
    • Track and record progress in performance of tasks;
    • Receive and process coursework assessment and project marks and prepare relevant circulars for data capture instructions;
    • Process exemptions courses and handling of referral cases;
    • Undertake receipt and storage of marked scripts;
    • Process examinations results;
    • Arrange for supervision and invigilation of examinations;
    • Facilitate briefing and post mortem meetings with field officers, centre organizers, external assessors and chief examiners;
    • Organize marking centres;
    • Facilitate appraisal, training, development and discipline of examiners;
    • Facilitate payments for contracted professionals.

    Senior Accountant

    The Senior Accountant will report to a head of Section in Finance Division.

    Responsibilities

    • Continuous monitoring of Council Revenue Generation/ Expenditure;
    • Organization, management, control and coordination of routine and non routine accounting functions;
    • Interpretation of financial policies;
    • Budgeting and management accounting and financial returns;
    • Preparing revised estimates, statistical reports, financial audits and tax returns.

    Qualifications

    • At least Bachelors degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) or its equivalent from a recognized University with at least 9 (nine) years experience.
    • Possession of a Masters Degree and CPA (K) will be an added advantage;
    • Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting, accounting and resource mobilization;
    • Evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Computer Applications.

    Administrative Officer

    The Officer at this level will report and be answerable to the Principal Administrative Officer in General Administration Division

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out routine administrative tasks, which include organization and Coordination of registry services. Control and distribution and supervision of drivers , telephone operators, messengerial and support staff;
    • General arrangements of office accommodation, equipment and supplies and related services;
    • Preparation of monthly statements for all administrative issues in the Council.

    Qualifications

    • At least Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
    • A Masters Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Administration from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage;
    • Served in the grade of a Administrative Officer I or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of (6) six years OR (6) six years relevant experience in Administration in a similar organization;
    • Evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Computer Applications.

    ICT Officer

    The Officer will report to the Deputy Director, Information Communication Technology.

    Job Requirements

    • Masters Degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline from a recognized Institution;
    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Communications Technology,Electronics Engineering or any other ICT related disciplines with a bias in Computer Science from a recognized institution;
    • Served in the grade of Chief ICT Officer for three (3) years or in an equivalent and relevant position OR have a cumulative working experience of at least fifteen (15) years in a related field. Those below Job group ‘N’ in
    • Government or TSC or its equivalent need not apply;
    • A Cisco Certified Network Analysts certificate;

    • Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage;

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the operation of IT services to maintain the protection of enterprise information and reliability of service delivery;
    • Undertake systematic monitoring and scanning of the enterprise’s external environment to identify emerging technologies that have the potential to create value;
    • Assess availability, performance and capacity of services and resources to ensure cost-justifiable capacity and performance are available to support business needs and to deliver against agreed Service Level Agreements;
    • Work with the business to determine future network requirements and produce network designs to meet the network availability, performance and security of the business;
    • Proactively identify business risks and opportunities to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness;
    • Perform network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting and escalating issues, including proactive problem resolution and complex problem analysis as necessary, to maintain network performance to meet user demand;
    • Reduce operational risk and improve availability of the network by ensuring network access, monitoring, control, evaluation and documentation practices are maintained and adhered to;
    • Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages;
    • Evaluate new network hardware and software solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology;
    • Collect and analyse operational data (especially incident and change records) to identify emerging trends and log problem records to assist with problem resolution and increased network availability;
    • Provide technical administration and leadership to customers on products, systems and configuration;
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support;
    • Monitor, analyse and report on systems performance;
    • Contribute to building capability within the ICT technical stream ensuring effective knowledge sharing and coaching;

    Research Officers

    KNEC EC SCALE 10

    The Research Officer II will be reporting to a Head of Section in the Research Division.

    Requirements for Appointment:

    • Bachelors Degree in Education with specialization in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Masters Degree in Education in Measurements and Evaluation or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Must have served as Research Assistant I for 3 years or at least six (6) years relevant work experience from a reputable institution
    • Evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Advanced Computer Applications;

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct pro-active research studies in educational assessment;
    • Develop research proposals on research problems related to the organization; plan and implement research projects;
    • Train data collectors; prepare programme and implement data collection exercise and disseminate research findings;
    • Prepare examination award statistics to members of the awards committee and moderation subject panel.

    Senior Accountant

    KNEC EC SCALE 12 (1 POST)

    The Senior Accountant will be reporting to a Head of Section in the Finance & Accounting Division.

    Requirements for Appointment:

    • Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or Economics or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution
    • Masters Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K);
    • Must have served in the grade of Accountant I for 3 years or 9 years cumulative relevant work experience in a public or private institution in Finance and Accounting field;
    • Membership to ICPAK;
    • Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a reputable institution will be an added advantage;
    • Evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Computer Applications (Ms office and accounting packages;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure timely production of Financial Statements
    • Review internal control procedures, ensure compliance and respond to audit queries;
    • Ensure timely and accurate payment of claims and generate periodic reports;
    • Prepare revised estimates and draft annual budget
    • Implement credit policy of the Council;
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts; and reconcile all payroll payments;
    • Consolidate the departmental revised and projected budgets into the Council budget;
    • Ensure revenue due to KNEC is collected and accounted for; verify and submit all bank reconciliation statements
    • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger;

    Senior Research Officer

    KNEC EC SCALE 12

    The Senior Research Officer will report and be answerable to the Head of Section in Research Division.

    Requirements for Appointment:

    • Masters Degree in Education (Measurement and Evaluation) or equivalent qualification
    • Must have served as Research Officer I for at least 3 years or 9 years cumulative relevant work experience handling examinations related research in a reputable institution;
    • Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a reputable institution will be an added advantage;
    • Well grounded in the theory and practice of educational research, assessment and psychometrics as well as curriculum development and implementation
    • Evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Computer Applications

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Management and execution of research processes in examinations
    • Ensure proper management of examinations award processes;
    • Coordinate monitoring of examinations processes
    • Analyze statistical data related to examinations and produce reports.

    Drivers

    The officer will report to the Transport Officer within General Administration Division;

    Requirements for Appointment

    • KCSE minimum mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent;
    • Current driving licence free from current endorsements and valid for all the classes of vehicles, which the candidate is required to drive;
    • Must have passed Occupational Test Grade III for Drivers with at least four (4) years previous satisfactory driving experience after obtaining the driving licence;
    • Accident-free record within the last four (4) years;
    • First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
    • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police Service.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Carry out routine checks on the vehicles cooling and oiling systems, electrical system, tyre pressure and brakes
    • Detect and report malfunctioning of vehicle systems and take good care of the fuel card
    • Maintain the work tickets for vehicles assigned and drive the vehicle as authorized;
    • Take initiative for security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road and safety of the passengers and/or goods therein
    • Routine driving duties, detect and report any malfunctions of the vehicle systems;
    • Keep and process motor vehicle documents and maintenance;

    Public Communications Officer

    KNEC SCALE EC 9 (1 POST)

    The Public Communications Officer II will be reporting to a Head of Public Communications Section

    Requirements for Appointment:

    • Bachelors Degree in either of the following disciplines: Journalism, Mass Communication or Public Relations from a recognized institution; OR Bachelors Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the following: Mass
    • Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Must have at least 3 years of public communication experience in a reputable institution;
    • Must have evidence of proficiency and knowledge in Advanced Computer Applications; (MS Office Packages, Desktop and Web-based Publishing, Photo and Video editing);

    • Engage with the public and media on matters of concern to the oragnization and participate in promotional events;
    • Analyze media coverage and undertake relevant market research;
    • Gather information on policies, programmes and significant events that impact on the organizations’ clients;
    • Prepare articles and publications articulating on specific issues and edit organizations’ publications;
    • Keep and maintain all public communication print and electronic materials including audio visuals and photographs;
    • Develop, implement and review the Corporate Communications Policy and communication strategies;
    • Design, initiate research on corporate relations issues and develop appropriate interventions;
    • Devise and implement measures to ensure proper projection of the identity and public image of the organization;
