    Project Coordinator

    Position Summary: Reporting to the Deputy Director in-charge of Programs, the Project Coordinator will be directly responsible for the project planning, management, implementation, reporting, coordination and supervision of all other staff under him/her.

     

    S/he will participate in development and operationalization of the project to achieve set objectives; undertake monitoring, evaluation and other related project documentation and reporting and ensuring timely implementation and reporting of project activities.

     

     

    Other Responsibilities

     

    • S/he will be the contact person for the project and will be directly responsible for providing backstopping support for daily project implementation in Nairobi and Siaya Counties.
    • Manage, coordinate and supervise all other staff under him/her.
    • Plan for project activities, raising of requisitions for costing by finance office, mobilise participants, facilitate trainings and manage reporting of activities.
    • Track work plans, budgets and deadlines and keep staff informed of upcoming contract-related tasks.
    • Manage relationships and participate in all partners and stakeholders’ meetings related to the project interventions.
    • In consultation with M&E Officer, prepare Monitoring Actions Plans to track the project performance as well as manage all projects reporting to partners.
    • Similarly, the Coordinator working closely with Bridge Centre Steering Committees will also be directly responsible for ensuring smooth operation of the running of the Bridge Centres to ensure that there is effective service delivery such as accelerating teaching and learning, psychosocial support and access to age appropriate information for all vulnerable girls and young mothers.
    • S/he will document all project best practices/challenges/lessons learnt and put forums for Knowledge Management Systems in place.
    • Facilitate donor visits as appropriate

     

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences (Arts) with strong knowledge on education, health especially HIVs related issues at Regional, National and Local level.

     

    Over five (5) years’ experience at senior level managing or implementing similar projects, good communication and mobilization skills, documentation and report writing skills are essential.

     

    A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

     

    Applicants should also be computer literate.

     

    Desired Competencies

     

    • Knowledge of US State Department HIV funded project and reporting procedures.
    • Practical experience of working with young women and girls in urban informal settlement and rural areas.
    • Excellent communication, leadership and coordination skills.
    • Ability to build teams and manage people.
    • Strong knowledge of Project Cycle Management and Knowledge Management Systems.
    • Ability to mobilise, interact with and implement youth led-interventions.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
    • Ability to identify and manage partnerships.
