Qualifications and Requirements:
For Appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
(i) served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Deputy Director, Medical Services/Senior Specialist Job Group ‘R’;
(ii) a Bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
(iii) a Masters degree in Public Health, Medicine, Health Service Management or comparable qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
(iv) been registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
(v) a current practicing licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
(vi) attended a Strategic Leadership course in a recognized institution; and
(vii) demonstrated a high degree of administrative capability coupled with broad professional experience and competence
Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will be responsible to the Director, Medical Services. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
(i) formulating, implementing and reviewing national policies, guidelines, programmes and standards for health care services;
(ii) planning and coordinating provision of health care delivery systems in the country;
(iii) providing specialist opinion in the relevant areas of specialization for both clinical and community health practice; and
(iv) providing training to support professional and technical personnel in health care services.
