    Chief Internal Auditor

    Job Summary: Reporting to the Board, the incumbent will be responsible for the Internal Audit function in ensuring that the management policies and procedures are adhered to and that internal controls are effective.

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Preparation and presentation of the Audit reports to the Board of Directors;
    2. Responsible for proper audit checks and verification of payments to ensure validity and accuracy
    3. Planning and coordinating internal audit activities;
    4. Budgeting and control of resources;
    5. Ensuring audit procedures and regulations are adhere to;
    6. Ensuring sound audit management systems are in place;
    7. Proper interpretation of all the regulations of the institute pertaining to financial control and management.
    8. Preparing audit reports and follow up on implementation of recommendations;
    9. Undertaking special audit investigations as may be required;
    10. Ensure setting up of a Risk Management strategy and ensure that the operational plan, policies and procedures are implemented.
    11. Supervision on risk assessment and ensuring the implementation of risk management guidelines.
    12. Monitoring and evaluating the Unit’s activities; and compiling the Unit’s quarterly and annual reports.
    13. Implementation and realization of the Unit’s strategic plans and objectives

    Requirements for Appointment

    1. Certified Public Accountants of Kenya CPA (K) (Auditing) certificate or Certified information systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA);
    2. Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or their equivalent;
    3. Be registered with a relevant professional body such as ICPAK or Institute of Internal Auditors Certified Internal Auditor (CIA);
    4. minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience;
    5. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on Leadership and integrity.

    Core competencies

    1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    2. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity to and respect for diversity;
    3. Have an understanding of the structure and functions of the public sector and;
    4. Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
    5. Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.
    6. Be computer literate.

    Method of Application

    1.     2. Shortlisted candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and should submit among other documents the following:

    a. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation;
    b. Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board;
    c. Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority;
    d. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
    e. Report from the Approved Credit Reference Bureau.
