Preschool Teacher

Salary: Between Kshs 15,000 – 30,000 depending on experience

Role Purpose: Reporting to the head preschool section this position serves to identify the curriculum need develop appropriate teaching materials and implement the teaching programme for the assigned class. It also mentors the Assistant teachers.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum delivery – 70%
- Prepare the schemes of work and lesson plan.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Organize and label materials and display students’ work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skills.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Demonstrate activities to children
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
- Mentor and supervise the assistant teacher.
- Administer tests to help determine children’s developmental levels, needs, and potential.
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
Pupils Management – 25%
- Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
- Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law and school administrative regulations.
- Perform administrative duties such as class administration, playfield monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
General – 5%
