    Terms Of Reference For The Publication Of Case Studies And Stories From Beneficiaries Of Caidrr Project

    1. Background

    VSF Germany is an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance. In the region, VSF Germany implements activities in Southern Sudan, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia. We Focus on Livestock, food security and Livelihoods, Natural Resources Management, Peace and Conflict, Good governance, Disasters & Emergency, and Agriculture

    2. Community Action for Improved Drought Response Resilience (CAIDRR) Project

    As the lead agency, VSF Germany is implementing a project titled ‘Community Action for Improved Drought Response Resilience (CAIDRR)’ in consortium which brings together two (2) other NGOs, namely: Community Initiatives Facilitation and Assistance (CIFA) as well as Water Right Foundation (WRF). With funding support from the European Union’s (EU) Strengthening the Horn of Africa’s Resilience Programme—SHARE Kenya, the project is being implemented over a period of 36 months (1st October 2014- September 30th, 2017). One of the key aspects of the project is knowledge management and evidence-based programming in resilience building is through documenting success stories, and tangible results inform of brochures and booklets to conveniently distribute to stakeholders and current and potential donors.

    3. Objective

    To conduct case studies and document achievements from beneficiaries/stakeholders as a result implementation of interventions under SHARE consortium from October 2014 to September 2017.

    4. Job Summary

    Under the general guidance of the Consortium Coordinator/ Project Manager, the consultant will collect, collate, edit and document the stories from the beneficiaries and stakeholders.

    The consultant shall print the final documents and also provide soft copies to the SHARE consortium partners. The services are to be rendered according to the specifications provided under deliverables.

    5. Deliverables

    1) A copy of A4 sized newsletter containing documented case studies and success stories and agreed upon content,

    2) The newsletter provided in high resolution and also made available in editable and printable format.

    3) Develop a copy of A4 sized brochure highlighting achievements and results from each of the project thematic component areas as documented and agreed upon by VSF Germany. This will also be made available in editable and printable format.

    4) High quality printed copies of the deliverables in 1) and 2) above in quantities to be specified.

    5) Develop and provide photos archives (in printable resolution) for all photos taken during the assignment.

    The consultancy is expected to take (15 working days) from 20/09/2017 to 04/10/2017.

    Competence

    Main Duties &

    Responsibilities:

    Competence/qualifications

    · Bachelors in Media and communication or relevant course

    · At least 4 years’ experience in documentation, human story writing, graphic designing/publications, photography.

    · Proven experience from references and portfolio of previous similar assignments.

    · Knowledge, understanding and experience of working in ASAL areas of Northern Kenya preferred.

    · An ability to communicate complex, abstract concepts using both visual and written language

    · Experience with processing and synthesizing large amounts of information.

    Payment:

    The consultant shall be paid the consultancy fee upon satisfactory completion of the work and approval of submitted documents

    Logistics & Others:

    · Consortium partners will provide transport, meals and accommodation to the consultants based on individual partners’ policies and donor guidelines. Where possible, the consultant will be accommodated at the partners’ field bases.

    · Consultant will be required to organize his/her own medical and insurance cover during this assignment; computer and soft wares, camera that will enable him/her perform the assignment.
