    AIC Kijabe as is known today was established in 1915 as a small outpatient clinic within the grounds of the Rift Valley Academy and was originally named Theodora Hospital. The hospital celebrated its centenary in May 2015 and is a multi-specialty facility currently with a bed capacity of 363, serving patients from all over Kenya and other African countries. KH is a faith-based hospital sponsored by the Africa Inland Church, Kenya, and has recently been classified as a level 6BNational Tertiary Teaching and Referral Hospital.

    Health Records Officer

    Health Records Officer Job Responsibilities

    • Participate in preparation of outpatient monthly reports.
    • Collection and balancing of DBR on a daily basis according to wards.
    • Issuing of general/revolving records stationery e.g. continuation sheets, inpatient files, etc.
    • Filing, i.e. patients files, reports and core correspondences.
    • Photocopying of records stationery.
    • Collection and counterchecking of B1s and D1s.
    • Collection of files from wards/CBO, receiving in registers, filing and retrieving.
    • Receiving, counterchecking and sealing of records stationery.
    • Collection of reports of other departments on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Receiving of postmortem forms in registers, filing and retrieving them.
    • Coding and indexing of diseases and procedures in medicine.
    • Preparation of quarterly/monthly inpatient morbidity and mortality report.
    • Signing of B1s and D1s forms.
    • Compiling of hospital monthly reports.
    • Compile and analyze hospital statistics.
    • Compile and analyze maternity records in charge statistics.
    • Hospital surveillance reports.
    • Acts as a direct line management of the health records staff contributing to the development of policies, procedures and practices relating to health records
    • Assisting in the development of health record audits.
    • communicating and negotiating contentious issues with senior management and clinical staff
    • Discharging all functions towards improving the quality of the service by ensuring easy accessibility of the patients records.

    • Providing advice and guidance to a range of people on all aspects of legislation relating to health records.
    • Extracting necessary information from patients’ notes and entering them on to a computer programme.
    • Displaying any significant medical problems prominently so it is obvious to any healthcare professional using the record.

    Qualifications for the Health Records Officer Job

    • Be a Kenyan citizen.
    • Be a holder of a Diploma in Health Records and Information Management from a recognized medical Training College.
