Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Business Editor, Africa, your role will be to support the new Africa Business Unit and launch new business video and TV products for local audiences. You will put together creative Business programmes and content, offering new angles and deeper exploration to stories, interviews, profiles and digital content. We want you to help shape BBC Africa’s Business agenda, setting an example for the team follow in order to inspire our audiences. You will plan, structure, write and produce content for multiple platforms to the highest editorial standards and oversee the work of others.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in a senior journalistic role, with excellent English language skills (written and spoken). Knowledge of Swahili or another African language would be preferable. You must have excellent knowledge of business in Africa and internationally, with a strong understanding of what audiences are looking for in digital and social media business coverage. You will be skilled in planning and producing TV and video packages for a variety of platforms, with the ability to demonstrate strong editorial judgement. Digital skills are essential.
