    The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

    Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

    Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, Compliance (Ozone Secretariat), the intern will

    • Assist in compiling a record to date of recommendations of the Implementation Committee, involving research, analysis and presentation in an accessible format for easy updating and public dissemination via the website;
    • Assist in arrangements for the 61st Implementation Committee Meeting, including contributing to preparation and review of meeting documentation, presentations and documentation for the President of the Implementation Committee and logistical arrangements as needed;
    • Participate as an observer in the 61st Implementation Committee Meeting, including assisting with note-taking on substantive discussions for the purposes of preparation of the Meeting Report;
    • Assist in preparations for the 30th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol and related meetings, including logistical arrangements as needed;
    • Participate as an observer in the 30th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, including assisting with note-taking on substantive discussions for the purposes of preparation of the Meeting Report;
    • Support to the Compliance Team in preparation and review of the Meeting Report of the 61st Implementation Committee meeting;
    • Assistance in updating internal tracking tables to facilitate implementation and follow-up of decisions of Meetings of the Parties and recommendations of the Implementation Committee;
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Education

    • Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
    • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
    • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
    • Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
    • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    Work Experience

    Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, for the purpose of this internship, knowledge of Law is an advantage.

    Languages

    Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
