With African wood supply under heavy pressure of measures to combat deforestation, and a booming demand driven by economic growth, the Business Development team is continuously working to maximize returns for Komaza and its farmers by addressing the most appealing markets with the most suitable wood products. As the Strategy & Innovation Associate, you will play a key role in initiating, developing, and implementing new opportunities to use our wood -- most importantly this will be through additions to our product portfolio and strategic partnerships. Your passion lies in research and data analytics, but you also love to lead cross-functional teams to make things happen.

What You Will Do

• Lead or support the research, design, prototyping, evaluation, and implementation of new business opportunities
• Evaluate strategic partnership opportunities, performing a broad range of quantitative and qualitative analyses
• Assessing and forecasting of market conditions and competitor activity
• Analyse research findings and prepare compelling presentations to support key decisions for management and potential investors
• Facilitate discussions on business strategy and strategic projects
• Capacity building - work with other team members to build market research and analysis skills

What You Have

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field
• 2 years working experience in a hands-on analytical role with demonstrated excellence for driving new strategic initiatives
• A proven track record of solving complex, ambiguous problems in a structured way (e.g., as management consultant, research manager, business analyst, or a strategy role)
• A proven track record with use of insights and data driven decision making
• Experience working in East Africa, preferably in Kenya
• Advanced Excel skills for creating analysis and detailed models to inform decision-making Passion for Komaza’s mission to bring massive impact to rural farmers and the environment through the rapid scaling of our microforestry model
