    Senior Accountant

    Working closely with the Country Project Director, the Senior Accountant in collaboration with the Finance & Administration Director will be responsible for ensuring that financial reso4xces are allocated for maximum program impact and used in compliance with contractual requirements, applicable regulations, and appropriate MSH standards and procedures.

    S/he is a key contributor to the program management strategy and organizes human, financial, and logistical resources for activity implementation.

    Under the supervision of the Finance & Administration Director, s/he will provide hands on support in managing finance associated processes such as internal and external financial reporting, approvals of project commitments and expenditures in compliance with MSH rules and expectations.

    S/he will ensure that the work plan and associated budget are developed for project deliverables to be met and ensure the successful production and submission of financial deliverables and reports.

    The Senior Accountant, will assist in safeguarding the assets (financial and physical) of MTaPS and ultimately the U.S Government or other donor against fraud, loss or misuse.

    This position is responsible for ensuring that any money expended in the field is done in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MSH policy, and any cost principles imposed by the donor agency. S/he is will participate in payroll administration.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • The deal candidate should have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management and CPA (K).
    • At least six (6) years’ experience in administrative and financial management of large international projects including experience in management of USG projects with USAID experience preferred.
    • The candidate should have experience in working with USAID funded projects Ability to create and monitor budgets
    • Understanding of the basic tenets of Cash Control, Asset Management and Bank Reconciliation.
    • S/he should have demonstrable experience and skills in developing and managing large budgets. In addition, s/he should be proficient in relevant computer applications and databases with mastery of Excel spreadsheets QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred
    • The successful candidate needs to be a strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • S/he should work with minimal supervision with ability to work independently and in a team
