    Human Resources Manager

    As our HR Manager, you will nurture organizational effectiveness and operational excellence to the team and help our current and future team-members thrive by accelerating our evolution as the ambassador of our culture, people and community.


    If you are an ambitious and self-driven HR executive with an uncompromising focus on human potential and large experience leading and implementing HR strategies in a rapidly evolving omnichannel FMCG organization, you are the ideal fit to join Text Book Center and play a key role in our growth.

    Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    • Lead the Human Resources function and provide expertise in support of the mission, vision, values and strategic and operational plans (including recruiting, learning and development, analytics, and organizational design).
    • Align Text Book Center's people strategies with business strategies and successfully implement critical people initiatives in partnership with the other Heads of Departments.
    • Evolve the Text Book Center's culture and employee experience with the aim to be recognized as one of the "Best companies to work for in Kenya".
    • Lead, advocate and actively participate in Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
    • Define and drive the strategic people agenda for the continuous evolution of Text Book Center's culture and capabilities.
    • Partner with leaders to effectively guide and lead change in the organization.
    • Provide comprehensive HR consultation, guidance, coaching and facilitation to leaders, managers and teammates on talent planning - acquisition - development, career planning, compensation and benefits, employee relations…
    • Partner with the business stakeholders to cultivate a strong performance evaluation program and people development strategy that elevates teammate engagement and retention.
    • Facilitate and participate in the identification of Text Book Center's next generation of leaders and implement leadership programs to grow them.
    • Ensure effective reporting and analysis of HR data to enable the business to make key operational and strategic decisions.
    • Create an environment of continuous improvement in HR and within the business by establishing new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency.
    • Implement a robust talent sourcing network from internship to executives and deliver a world-class recruitment experience to new candidates.
    • Implement and update the compensation program and conduct annual salary surveys.
    • Update company handbook and personnel policies, ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour laws.

    Preferred Qualifications & key competencies

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, organizational Psychology or any other business related field. MBA is a plus.
    • Active member of the IHRM.
    • Thorough knowledge of the full spectrum of Human Resources management and demonstrated hands-on expertise in all areas including compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, training, legal compliance, health and safety, and organizational development.
    • Excellent knowledge of HR processes and procedures, including but not limited to performance management, HR information system, employment law, and payroll.
    • Superior relationship - building and communication skills.
    • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Fluent in Kiswahili.

    Experience

    • 10 years in Human Resources experience including at least 5 years of HR leadership experience in a retail organization in East Africa.
    • Proven success in developing, executing and linking HR strategies to the business, supporting multiple senior leaders in areas such as performance management, change and transition management.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituents at every organizational level.
    • Proven ability to develop, engage and retain a high performing team.

    This is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits package.
