    Livelihoods Intern- Kajiado

    Reporting to: Area Project Coordinator/Livelihoods Program Officer

    Objective:

    The Intern will support the Livelihood Project interventions to ensure strengthened and empowered communities in the areas where FEED works through coordinating and implementing Livelihood activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Prepare weekly/monthly workplans based on scheduled activities.
    • Collection and documentation of all relevant data from the community as required.
    • Carry out community mobilization and sensitization for village savings and loans groups
    • Facilitate proper transition of VAS to PSP and further certification in implementation of VSLA methodology
    • Ensure quality delivery of VSLA modules by PSPs and that ethics agreed upon are observed as stipulated in the methodology
    • Mobilize communities for participation in community managed disaster risk reduction activities and follow up documentation of the same
    • Facilitate training for identified ToTs’ for cascading the CMDRR methodology to the community, compilation of the report, community action plans, review and dissemination of the reports at the county level
    • Support the formation of Disaster Risk Reduction Teams’ (DRR teams) to oversee the implementation of the action plans
    • Coordinate training for DRR teams for better management of their resources and timely decision making on preparing communities to deal with hazards and shocks
    • Monitor proper implementation and management of school livelihood activities and existing food security projects; agricultural gardens.
    • Coordinate and Participate in project assessments and evaluations carried out in the program area as directed by the immediate supervisor.
    • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum requirements

    The Applicants should at the time of application meet the following requirements:

    • Be enrolled in a final academic year Graduate program or equivalent or
    • Graduated with a university degree in Community Development or any Social Science
    • Person should be familiar with various research methodology and data analysis;
    • Should have good interpersonal and team working skills
    • Sensitive to cultural diversity
    • Good Computer skills and Eagerness to learn
