    Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Officer

    Details:

    Overall Purpose of the Position:

    •  Actively drive the implementation and sustenance of the EHS Management System.
    • Promote a safe working culture amongst personnel through EHS awareness promotion and training.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Perform EHS site inspections to ensure compliance with the safety processes and policies as guided by EHS plans.
    • Participate in the development of health & safety guidelines, communications, safe systems of work and standard operating procedures.
    • Ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations in areas pertaining to health, safety, environment, statutory trainings, audits, wastes disposal, firefighting appliances inspections and reporting.
    • Ensure that all accidents/incidents are documented, investigated and recommended corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
    • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, risk assessments SOPs are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
    • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to management.
    • Accountable for supervision, administration and record keeping on area specific EHS audits, inspections, reports, certifications, permits to works, etc.
    • Coordinates with other departments the application of a ‘Permit to Work System’ for all activities requiring permits.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements :

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field from a recognized institution.
    • At least 3 years relevant experience in a similar position, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
    • Conversant with ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018.
    • Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement site specific EHS programs, trainings, policies and practices.
    • Ability to research, investigate alternative solutions and recommend needed change
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili languages
