    Research Assistant, Mental Health Interventions for Pregnant Adolescents, Inspire Project, Department Of Psychiatry

    Ref Number – AD/12/359/19 (1 POST) (CHS)

    The program The US Fogart International Centre and National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) has awarded an K43 grant entitled implementing mental health interventions for pregnant adolescents in primary care context to the University of Nairobi. The grant award is for the period September 2018 up to April 2023. The position is tenable on one year contract, renewable on mutual agreement.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in science or related field.
    • They should have at leat 2 years experience in research management, data collection in public or mental health including health services research.
    • They should also have skills in data entry using SPSS, Excel and basic data analytic and reporting.
    • They should demonstrate ability to have productive interactions with project stakeholders, partners and students involved in mental health and have exposure working on mental health projects; operating in a team environment; and effectiveness in managing multiple priorities and programmes.
    • The applicants are expected to have strong organizational skills and be familiar with administrative policies and procedures in a univrsity environment.

    Key responsibilities

    Assisting with field visits for data collection and follow up; conducting interviews and follow up assessments; sourcing participants in liaison with other health workers; helping in preparing the delivery of various interventions; and regular communication with the project team.
