    Manager – Compliance and Controls

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop Anti-Money Laundering Policy document and review it periodically.
    • Monitors changes in AML regulations and notifies the business of such changes.
    • Liaises with regulatory authorities to prepare the annual AML programme on AML regulations.
    • Review programmes in line with changes in regulations.
    • Designs training programmes on AML for staff and channel users.
    • Oversees transaction monitoring for suspicious activities and transactions.
    • Carry out due diligence on 3rd parties entering strategic partnerships with Airtel Africa.
    • Establish and review key operational risk indicators/key control standards and formulate action plans to minimize the Airtel Money’s exposure to fraud and losses.
    • Manage the AM operational risk exposure by supporting the operations to identify areas of operational risk exposure and by developing and implementing corrective action.
    • Develops compliance policies, processes and procedures.
    • Prepares compliance monitoring strategies, tools and tasks.
    • Establishes measures that ensure the business complies with all applicable laws, statutes and regulations, standards of best practice, internal policies, processes and procedures.
    • Reviews new products for compliance with applicable regulations in our existing markets.
    • Establishes framework for Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes.
    • Reviews and updates the CDD framework in line with changes KYC regulations and principles.
    • Monitors changes and trends in KYC requirements and advising business of such changes and developments.
    • Ensures that the business has under safe custody and ease accessibility adequate documentation for customers and channel users.
    • Acts as the link between the business and the regulator.
    • Prepares and submits applications for new products and enhancements to regulatory authorities for approval.
    • Generate and designs correspondence with the regulator and other stakeholders in the financial sector.
    • Identifies for improvement gaps and weaknesses in internal controls in our markets.
    • Liaises with Internal and External Auditors on their findings and responsible persons for timely resolutions.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field.
    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT, Risk and (or) Compliance
    • Experience working in the Banking, Mobile Financial Services (MFS) or Fintech industry is preferred.
    • Managerial Experience is preferable
    • Professional Certification : Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and(or) Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS)
