    Regulatory Manager

    Reporting to the Head of Regulatory, the incumbent’s role will include but not limited to;

    • Build and maintain cordial relationships with all key stakeholders such as Communication Authority, Central Bank of Kenya, Government, GSMA, FSD and other PSP providers
    • Provides analysis and counsel on regulatory issues, suggesting ways to maximize licensing opportunities and minimize environmental threats
    • In consultation with the Head of Regulatory, develop the company’s position on agreed issues to lobby with the government and Regulator
    • Review Licensing terms and conditions and benchmark with global best practices
    • Obtain approvals for new products, tariffs or promotion from Communications Authority and new or updated agent models from the Central Bank of Kenya as and when required
    • Review competitor action to ensure that it is within the law and to take appropriate action in cases of violation.
    • Implement Regulatory Compliance Management System for Airtel Kenya
    • Draw and manage interconnection agreements and support Finance in the collection of interconnect debt
    • Provide all Legal and Regulatory support to Airtel Money Kenya including developing contracts and agreements between Airtel Money and key stakeholders e.g., Trust Entity, Agents etc
    • Enforce Regulatory compliance using the internal Compliance Management Framework

    Qualifications:

    • A Law degree with excellent knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
    • At least 4 years working experience with good understanding and application of competition, Economic or Regulatory Principles.
    • Experience in or understanding of Mobile Financial Services
    • Experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts

    • Multitasker - able to handle, prioritize, multiple projects simultaneously
    • Team player who is able to work collaboratively with regulatory authorities to drive results
    • Customer centric with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
