    Business Analyst, Histac Project, Faculty of Health Sciences

    The Position

    Reporting to the Project Coordinator in consultation with the Principal Investigator, the Business Analyst will be responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to the Project Management Team. This person will engage with key stakeholders to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value. They must articulate those ideas but also balance them against what’s technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop requirements through modelling proposed data flows, workflow diagrams, and functional decomposition diagrams;
    • Determine operational objectives by studying clinical operations; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
    • Work with the development and testing team to track requirements during the development process and support testing software against business, functional, and technical requirements;
    • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and meeting reports.
    • Research, review and resolve software defects with the team of developers.
    • Participate in technical discussions with the programmatic and clinical areas.
    • Assess whether the anticipated requirements add value to the end product and liaise with users if requirements are not implementable.
    • Perform the impact analysis of newly requested features on existing products.
    • Support documentation of new features or products
    • Create end-user documentation to enable consistent use.

    Job Specifications, Applicants shall have

    • Bachelor Degree in either; Business IT, health Informatics; Monitoring and Evaluation; or Statistics
    • At least two (2) years of experience in Business Analysis
    • Working experience with implementation of health-related donor-funded projects, data management and use, EMR Implementation/support, health informatics.
    • Strong analytical skills including analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
    • Experience with Open MRS deployment, National Data warehouse, scale-up, upgrades and user support.
    • Knowledge of data modelling, data visualization and reporting tools
    • Experience in web design will be an added advantage
    • Critical thinking ability, Strong problem-solving capacity, High-level written and verbal communication skills, Project management skills, Data Science Training will be an added advantage

    Terms of appointment
    This is a position whose tenure is one (1) year contract renewable based on performance and by mutual consent. The salary is negotiable depending on the level of education and work experience.
