    Business Development Manager

    Job Summary:

    • The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and driving the business development activities of CIHEB Kenya. The role involves identifying and securing funding opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and developing innovative initiatives to support the organization’s mission and growth. The Business Development Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies that enhance the CHEB-Kenya visibility, donor engagement, and financial sustainability.

    Responsibilities:

    Funding Strategy:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive funding strategy aligned with the CIHEB-Kenya’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Identify and pursue diverse funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, donations, and partnerships.
    • Research and monitor funding trends, donor priorities, and funding cycles to maximize resource mobilization.
    • Identify and support teams in analyzing potential opportunities

    Donor Engagement:

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, including government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
    • Prepare compelling proposals, concept notes, and grant applications to secure funding.
    • Conduct donor mapping and stewardship activities to ensure strong donor relationships and repeat funding.

    Partnerships and Collaborations:

    • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with other NGOs, government entities, private sector organizations, and academia to enhance program impact and resource mobilization.
    • Collaborate with partners to develop joint funding proposals and implement collaborative initiatives.

    Proposal Development:

    • Manage complex proposal development process throughout lifecycle.
    • Lead the development of high-quality proposals, including conducting needs assessments, program design, budgeting, and coordinating inputs from various teams.
    • Ensure proposals are aligned with donor requirements, programmatic goals, and organizational capacities.

    Budgeting and Financial Analysis:

    • Work closely with the finance team to develop budgets and financial plans for proposals and projects.
    • Conduct financial analysis and feasibility studies to assess the financial viability and sustainability of new initiatives.

    Reporting and Compliance:

    • Coordinate the timely and accurate submission of reports to donors, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and reporting requirements.
    • Monitor and track project outcomes, impact, and financial performance to provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.

    Networking and Representation:

    • Represent the NGO in external forums, conferences, and networking events to promote the organization’s mission, achievements, and partnerships.
    • Build relationships with government officials, donors, and relevant stakeholders to expand the NGO’s network and influence.

    Knowledge Management:

    • Stay updated on industry trends, funding opportunities, and best practices in business development for NGOs.
    • Share knowledge and provide guidance to internal teams on business development strategies and opportunities.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Global Health, Public Health, English, Communication, Business Administration, International Development or a related field.
    • At least seven (7) years combined business development, grant writing and/or fundraising, or resource mobilization within the NGO sector.
    • Demonstrated success in securing donor funding.
    • Strong understanding of donor landscapes, funding mechanisms, and grant application processes.
    • Excellent proposal writing and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and concepts.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies.
    • Must be detail oriented with proficient organizational skills.
    • Financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and project management.
    • Strategic thinking and the ability to identify opportunities and develop innovative approaches to resource mobilization.
    • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and persuade stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of relevant sectors, such as international development, health, education, or environmental conservation.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
