    Campaign and Research Assistant (Internship)

    Primary tasks will include:

    • Supporting advocacy and campaign work from the Nairobi office to inform our global campaigns, including planning, preparing, and delivering activities ranging from media work to private advocacy to online mobilization.
    • Supporting the development of campaign products, including social media toolkits, press releases and joint letters.
    • Organizing and taking minutes of campaign calls and meetings with the team, partners, allies, experts, and Government officials.
    • Monitoring Kenyan, regional and international media and social media to keep abreast of political and conflict-specific developments, track media pick-up of campaign products, and collate regular media updates for the team and our partners.
    • Monitoring domestic developments to track actions from our key political targets, scope for new potential political allies, and spot opportunities for influencing on the issues that we campaign on.
    • Undertaking research on issues and contacts relevant to our campaign work, including attending relevant external events and drafting briefings and/or intel updates for the team.
    • Collating input from team or partners on evaluations/ post-action debriefs and surveys
    • Scoping current crises and drafting internal 'Emergency Watch' reports on emerging crises.
    • Providing significant administrative support to the Crisis Action Nairobi office, including, but not limited to:
    • Maintaining the central partner and contact database.
    • Updating the evidence of change journal to track and record policy change and impact.
    • Maintaining and updating financial records in collaboration with the finance team.
    • Any other administrative or logistical assistance which may be required by the Nairobi Office.

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Has excellent organizational , administrative and computer/technology skills including Microsoft Office proficiency.
    • Has top-notch communication skills, and excellent oral and written English (additional languages, especially Kiswahili, are a big bonus).
    • Is a good analyst and creative thinker.
    • Is a self-starter, takes the initiative, able to multi-task and flourish in a high-paced environment.
    • Has excellent research skills and ability to distil and summarise complex topics into easy-to understand formats for a variety of audiences.
    • Has an interest in conflict dynamics, human rights issues, Kenyan and regional politics and/or campaigning and advocacy.
    • Has an interest in or experience of working with civil society organizations and/or government institutions.
    • An interest in and experience of digital campaigning and graphic design for social media is desirable.
