Communication and Knowledge Management Consultant at United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

Under the supervision of the Head, Land Use Finance Unit the consultant will:

• Advance financial institutions' level of awareness of the importance of natural capital and sustainable land Lead and coordinate communications and knowledge management across the portfolio of funds and facilities that the Climate Finance Unit operates or partners with. This includes identifying and capitalizing on any opportunities for learning and knowledge exchange across these funds and facilities.
• Support the organization and content creation of knowledge exchange events related to finance facilities.  
• Lead Communications and Knowledge Management for the Restoration Seed Capital Facility (RSCF). This includes organizing at least 1 conference as well as actively contribute to knowledge management between impact investors and investment advisors whom this facility targets.
• Lead Communication and Knowledge Management for the AGRI3 Fund. Communicate innovative deals and options for replication and mainstreaming, based on activities agreed with the donor. 
• Lead the communication and knowledge management of the Restoration Explorer, Restoration Factory and Restoration Marketplace and increase the level of awareness with key stakeholders (e.g. project developers, buyers/offtakers of agricultural commodities such as traders, impact investors). Communicate preliminary results and achievements to a wider audience using (financial) media. 
• Actively reach out to financial media and track the degree to which the Communication and Knowledge Management efforts of the unit are successful in reaching key target audiences.

Qualifications/special skills

• Masters’ Degree in journalism or another relevant scientific background in communication is required.
• Seven (7) years of professional experience working on communications and knowledge management, preferably in areas related to finance, agriculture, forestry or in the consumer goods industry is required
• Excellent network with finance-related media and other relevant media channels, as well as a broad network with international organisations and preferably finance institutions, agribusinesses and consumer goods companies is desirable.
• Computer literate in standard software applications; have excellent writing and communication skills; good analytical skills with an interest in the topic of sustainable land use and green finance is desirable.
• The consultant should have good interpersonal skills and work independently to complete the given assignments is desirable

Languages

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. French and Spanish are optional.
