    Communications Officer

    Overview

    Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian organization. As a worldwide partnership we operate over 135 aircraft from bases in more than 30 countries, serving about 2,500 destinations; these aircraft are used to enable aid and development agencies, missions, national churches and other local groups; serving together to bringing help, hope and healing. MAF in Kenya has 2 aircraft based at Wilson Airport, where our Operations Centre is located. MAF in Tanzania has 2 aircraft based in Arusha.

    At Wilson Airport we are also supporting the maintenance of 5 aircraft in Juba, South Sudan. The flight program in both countries supports the ministries of the different organizations serving in Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania.

    We currently have a vacancy for the position of  Communications Officer for Kenya and Tanzania, based in Nairobi.

    Responsibilities

    • You will work as part of the MAF International Communications team and you will provide a frequent and detailed flow of information from the programmes to the wider MAF community. You will also work towards increasing awareness of MAF’s services within Kenya, with the aim of helping expand our work in-country.  

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • A higher qualification in Journalism, Communications or related subject; Fluency in Swahili and English and a minimum of two years of experience in a communication-based role, ideally in a mission/NGO setting.
    • In previous jobs you will have gained experience with gathering, organizing and presenting information in an engaging and informative manner; you know how to write good stories, know how to take good photos and shoot and edit video.
    • You have excellent communication skills; great attention to detail and have worked with people from different cultures and backgrounds. You are flexible towards others and to circumstances; you are willing to travel at short notice and you are a committed Christian who fully agrees with MAF s statement of faith.
