Scope of Work
In the past three years, WUSC piloted the use of Edtech in Kakuma and Dadaab camps as well as host communities. We have had mixed results on the impact of digital learning. One of the key barriers to the uptake of Edtech is access to learning devices. WUSC is keen to implement Edtech by eliminating the access barriers and, and assess its impact on the learning process. Our remedial program targets smaller groups of lower-achieving or at-risk students for such remedial interventions. As an innovative and low-cost intervention, the model is designed to improve girls’ academic performance.
The project works with 15 schools. The target group for the tablet-based learning software is 700+ school-going girls at risk of dropping out. These learners are enrolled in standards 7, 8, Form 1, and Form 2 in the LEAP remedial program. The project currently has seven (7) remedial centers out of the fifteen (15) project schools. The focus is to provide appropriate learning and teaching resource materials targeting learners from a wide range (emergent, established, and proficient learners), that are age-appropriate. Learning material should be aligned with Kenya's Ministry of Education curriculum to promote digital literacy and numeracy skills
