    Consultancy Services -Digital Learning Services

    Scope of Work

In the past three years, WUSC piloted the use of Edtech in Kakuma and Dadaab camps as well as host communities. We have had mixed results on the impact of digital learning. One of the key barriers to the uptake of Edtech is access to learning devices. WUSC is keen to implement Edtech by eliminating the access barriers and, and assess its impact on the learning process. Our remedial program targets smaller groups of lower-achieving or at-risk students for such remedial interventions. As an innovative and low-cost intervention, the model is designed to improve girls’ academic performance.

The project works with 15 schools. The target group for the tablet-based learning software is 700+ school-going girls at risk of dropping out. These learners are enrolled in standards 7, 8, Form 1, and Form 2 in the LEAP remedial program. The project currently has seven (7) remedial centers out of the fifteen (15) project schools. The focus is to provide appropriate learning and teaching resource materials targeting learners from a wide range (emergent, established, and proficient learners), that are age-appropriate. Learning material should be aligned with Kenya's Ministry of Education curriculum to promote digital literacy and numeracy skills

    Key Deliverables and specific tasks:

    1. Concept note on the platform design and implementation strategy of the digital learning platform considering the project needs and location.
    2. Analytics management system (dashboard).
    3. A platform that provides informed data-driven recommendations made by tracking, analyzing, and monitoring students; learning performance.
    4. Data interface and a well-documented data collection on the tablet-based learning software usage.
    5. Research collaboration: WUSC intends to conduct two or more embedded research across the lifespan of the project, gathering new evidence and information on the use of Edtech.
    6. Pretest and validate the platform for primary and secondary schools’ materials with the different target audiences before finalizing for implementation. The application should address specific gaps.
    7. Level of technical support after implementation strategy.

    Application requirements:

    1. Candidate/Firm demonstration of ability to roll out a digital learning platform.
    2. Visible List of relevant previous and any other relevant previous experience in implementing a learning platform in arid and semi-arid areas.
    3. Candidate/Firm demonstration of the trial version of the learning platform
    4. Service level of effort and terms
    5. Technical support terms and conditions
