Developer Internship at Greenspoon Kenya

ROLE DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development including the implementation of WordPress / D365 plugins and custom functionality. You will also be responsible for monitoring website availability and performing regular maintenance / upgrades on WordPress plugins and core. You will work directly with our CTO, who is an expert in WordPress and Product Management. From day 1 you will be able to learn a lot by getting a lot of responsibilities, access to courses and plugins and interacting with the rest of the team.

Location: Mostly remote with on-site presence in our office in Regen, Kikuyu, 1 day (or if necessary 2 days).

• Maintain existing website and make changes to the front-end and backend functionality as required by internal and external stakeholders
• Conducting website performance tests
• Troubleshooting issues
• Performing regular plugin, theme and core updates and resolving issues in Staging environment before transferring changes to Live
• Train internal teams as required
• Proactively monitoring website performance and availability and suggesting solutions to improve speed, performance & optimizations
• Creating new and innovative solutions to enable our internal teams and customers to have an outstanding experience with Greenspoon products

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous work experience with WordPress development
• In depth understanding or experience in WooCommerce preferred
• Knowledge of front end technologies such as CSS3, HTML5, Javascript and jQuery
• Experience with or the ability to quickly learn PHP and WordPress plugin development
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Experience with or the ability to quickly learn to develop iOS and Android apps
• Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Ability to manage projects and tasks independently
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Centrals and the AL programming language an asset but not required
