    Director, Education and Examination

    REF: NCK/CS/HW02/DEE/18/03/2023

    Over all purpose

    Officer at this level is the Head of Education and Examination Department at the NCK

    Duties and responsibilities inter alia entail:-

    • Formulating, implementing and reviewing nursing and midwifery education, examination & registration policy and guidelines; 
    • Approving the work plan and activities för the department and coordinating the implementation
    • Coordinating the development and review of syllabi and/or courses and modes ofstudy
    • Coordinating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum; Coordinating evidence generation for decision-making regarding emerging programmes or issues touching on the Council's mandate;
    • Overseeing the monitoring of nursing/midwifery students during training; Coordinating the setting and administration of licensure examination; 
    • Utilizing research data to advise regarding emerging issues touching on Council's mandate
    • Developing performance management targets for the department and overseeing the implementation
    • Development of the departmental budget and procurement plan.

    QuaIifications and Person specifications
     
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • Served in the grade of Deputy Director, Education and Examination for a minimum period of three (3) years or twelve (12) years' experience, five (5) years of which should have been at senior management position
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution
    • Master's Degree in Nursing or Midwifery or any health-related field from a recognized institution
    • Member of professional association of good standing
    • Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
    • Monitoring and Evaluation Course from a recognized institution; 
    • Proficiency in computer application skills;
    • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence as reflected in work performance and results; and Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution;

    Desired qualities

    Successful candidate should have, Good; Leadership, Communication, Negotiation, Risk Management, Governance and Financial management skills
