    Driver – RMNCH Project

    Job Summary
    The Driver will provide safe, reliable and timely transport services in support of the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH) Project. The role ensures the efficient movement of project staff, and other authorized personnel on official assignments to implementation sites, maintains the assigned vehicle in a roadworthy and well-documented condition, and provides logistical and basic administrative support to field activities.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide safe, reliable and professional driving services to project staff and other authorized personnel on official assignments.
    • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism at all times.
    • Plan and manage travel routes efficiently, including long-distance and field assignments across the country.
    • Conduct safety briefings prior to journeys and ensure strict compliance with traffic laws and CHAK transport policies.
    • Transport project supplies, health commodities, training materials and equipment to health facilities and field sites, ensuring items are handled securely and delivered intact.
    • Maintain assigned vehicle(s) in excellent condition, ensuring cleanliness, roadworthiness, fueling, and timely servicing.
    • Carry out routine vehicle inspections and coordinate minor maintenance as required.
    • Ensure the vehicle has valid insurance, inspection certificates, and a complete first aid kit, fire extinguisher and emergency equipment at all times.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date transport records, including trip logs, fuel records, mileage returns, maintenance schedules, and incident or accident reports.
    • Support the Procurement Manager in fleet-related processes, including obtaining quotations for repairs and servicing, liaising with approved garages and suppliers, and following up on deliveries.
    • Provide logistical support during project activities such as trainings, community outreaches, supportive supervision visits, health facility assessments and review meetings.
    • Provide assistance to passengers, including entry and exit from the vehicle when required.
    • Respond appropriately to emergencies, including administering basic first aid and notifying emergency services when necessary.
    • Take brief notes or minutes during select meetings, field visits and official engagements when required.
    • Support basic photography for official meetings, events, and field activities, in line with CHAK communication standards.
    • Assist in dispatch and courier coordination for official correspondence, packages and project documents.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum of a High School Certificate (KCSE).
    • Valid and clean driver’s license (Class BCE) and a certificate of good conduct.
    • Valid AA (Automobile Association of Kenya) driving certificate will be and added advantage
    • At least five (5) years’ proven driving experience, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded project setting.
    • Demonstrated experience driving manual and 4WD vehicles in diverse terrain across Kenya.
    • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and routine maintenance; first aid certificate is an added advantage.
    • Demonstrate commitment to Christian values and willingness to work within a faith-based environment while respecting the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of staff, partners, and beneficiaries
    • Computer literacy
    • Basic photography skills.
