Education and Research Officer at Ubongo

POSITION OBJECTIVE (overall purpose of position)

• Conduct creative research for Ubongo’s content and products and support outreach activities by building relationships with key stakeholders for knowledge acquisition and researching activities.

Key Responsibilities

Main Activities

Pre-research of Ubongo’s content

• Organizing stakeholders roundtable discussions on selected topics
• Conducting pre-research and co-creation activities with children and stakeholders in the camp
• Analysis and report writing and/or presentations of user test results to the wider Ubongo team.

Conducting User Research in the camp

• Working with teams to ensure continuous and creative user testing processes for all content and products
• Developing and/or reviewing materials for testing
• Arrange user research and focus groups with children and stakeholders in Kakuma camp
• Conduct user research of our content at all stages of production (storylines, script, animatic, animation, post-production)
• Report writing and/or presentations of user test results to the wider Ubongo team

Outreach

• Mapping out key stakeholders (education implementers and or policymakers, caregivers, community centers, teachers, etc) that Ubongo can work with during the project
• Building and maintaining Ubongo’s relationship with partners/organizations within the camp

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Minimum knowledge, skills and behaviors to perform the job)

Physical

Educational

• Bachelor's degree in Education or research

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience working with children directly
• Experience working in a refugee camp is a MUST (Kakuma Refugee camp is desirable)
• Experience in relationship building with partners
• Experience in education/educational research is highly desirable
• Fluent in English, basic knowledge of languages spoken in the camp (Juba -Arabic) is a major advantage
