    EHU Meal Manager

    The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

    ROLE PURPOSE

    The MEAL Manager position will be activated from the roster and deployed to support EHU responses.  They will be responsible for ensuring monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning mechanisms are in place, both integrating with the wider health and nutrition response where appropriate, and ensuring EHU-specific systems are in place.  This includes accurate and comprehensive: collection of health data, entry into the EHUs health information system, data analysis and reporting, S/he will liaise with the response MEAL lead to ensure appropriate accountability mechanisms are in place and feedback received is being discussed and changes implemented as appropriate. S/he will support learning by assisting as required with a mid-deployment review and end of deployment close-out meeting.

    In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. The post holder will be roving to multiple locations where the needs are high. 

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Liaise with response EHU MEAL advisor to ensure EHU MEAL activities are aligned, appropriate, and comprehensive
    2. Ensure data collection tools (registers, forms etc) are correctly utilised, kept and updated within project areas including health facilities and communities
    3. Collect, clean, and enter data in a timely and accuate manner or superives HIS officer to do so
    4. Analyse data, make necessary visual presentations and give feedback to each service delivery point
    5. Assist with the preparation and presentation of data for internal and donor reports in a timely manner
    6. Prepares and submits required epidemiological report to health cluster and/or MoH in a timely manner
    7. Ensure data is desegregated by sex and flag any gender disparities to enhance gender sensitive programming
    8. Ensure data is desegregated by age and flag any disparities to improve child-friendly programming
    9. Identify training needs on data management for facility staff and deliver trainings accordingly
    10. Ensure two accountability mechanisms are in place and feedback is reviewed and integrated on a regular basis 
    11. Ensure feedback for EHU is provided to response MEAL team so it is fed into the wider response accountability report
    12. Conducts client exits interviews for children and adults receiving health services; compile and shares results with team to identify areas for improvement 
    13. Ensure patient charter, including child-friendly version is visible at all EHu service delivery points
    14. Perform any other duty assigned by the line manager

    QUALIFICATIONS  

    1. Degree in Health Records and Information, Health Information Systems, Health Statistics, Information Management, Public Health, or equivalent

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential:

    1. Previous experience working in humanitarian settings
    2. Previous experience working in MEAL sector
    3. Experience using DHIS 2 Health Information System
    4. Ability to organize and plan information systems
    5. Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and accountability methodologies
    6. Knowledge of conducting surveys, assessments and data quality audits
    7. Experience with MS Excel
    8. Ability to work in a team
    9. Willingness to live and work in hardship areas
    10. Commitment to abide by the Save the Children Child Safeguarding Policy
    11. Fluent in English 

    Desirable:

    1. Fluent in French and/or Spanish 
    2. Previous experience working with NGO
