Scouts at Flamingo Horticulture

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitoring and scouting for pests and diseases
• Monitoring efficacy and phytotoxicity of products used for control measures
• Application of Natural enemies as per requirement under supervision by the senior foreman
• Marking Hot spot areas of high pest and disease infestation.
• Doing scouting calibration at least once a month to ensure accuracy in scoring and sampling efficiency
• Working closely and coordinating important information with spray supervisor
• Compiling IPM and conventional reports and presenting them to management for an action plan.
• Prompt reporting of any emerging pest and disease incidences and not waiting for the reports day.
• Keeping management informed on levels of pests, diseases, and any other unusual crop conditions.
• Filing of scouts documents and reports
• Ensuring management plans and or intentions are implemented.
• Observing safe and healthy work conditions at the workplace

 
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS

• KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of C+ (Plus).
• Basic Computer knowledge.
• Certificate in Agriculture/Horticulture will be an added advantage
• IPM Level 1 and 2 certificate
• 3 years’ experience working in Horticulture
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work with minimum supervision
• Must have a valid Police Clearance Certificate.
