    Head of Pre-School

    Job Summary:

    • The overall purpose of the job is to oversee the daily operations and management of the pre-school while ensuring the school provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children in line with best practices and institutional policies and procedures.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the pre-school, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the pre-school in collaboration with the Deputy Head of School.
    • Develop and implement curricula and lesson plans aligned with Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines and school policies.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, making recommendations for improvements.
    • Manage accurate records of student enrolment, attendance, and progress.
    • Evaluate student progress and implement interventions as needed to ensure academic and social-emotional milestones are met.
    • Prepare pre-school meeting and events reports and submit to the Deputy Head of School.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to align staff with the school’s mission and values.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to early childhood education.
    • Respond to inquiries from parents and stakeholders promptly and professionally.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes respect and kindness.
    • Collaborate with parents and stakeholders to meet the needs of children and families.
    • Ensure the pre-school environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
    • Assist the Deputy Head of School in planning and budgeting for educational trips and events.
    • Prepare and submit pre-school requisitions list to the Deputy Head of School for approval.
    • Attend meetings and conferences to stay updated on latest research and best practices in early childhood education.
    • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
    • Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
    • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in Education.

    Desired Competencies and Attributes:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong knowledge of early childhood education theories and best practices.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology tools and platforms.
    • Effective communicator for internal and external correspondences.
    • Proven track record in educational leadership, including classroom administration, instructions, lesson plans, and pupil assessment.
    • Ability to design engaging lessons applying various teaching methods.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills for department and classroom management.
    • Critical and creative thinking abilities.
    • Risk assessment and response capabilities.
    • Effective people management and conflict resolution skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Understanding of child development and behavior.
    • Collaborative work approach with staff, students, and parents.
