Head of Restricted Funding Strategy at Practical Action Kenya

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Restricted Funding Strategy to lead Practical Action’s group wide restricted income generation and continue to build on the recent years’ successes in diversifying our partners and income sources.

In a rapidly evolving donor and political context, you will take the lead on coordinating group wide efforts to increase our income from a wide range of funders. In such a fast changing funding climate, it will require sustained and focused leadership to maintain and grow and diversify Practical Action’s funding base. This role had been developed to provide dedicated leadership and innovation to achieve our ambitions, and to support teams working in different countries to meet their goals.

Responsibilities

Through this role we want to:

• Develop Practical Action’s group wide strategy for restricted income generation
•  Strengthen group wide approaches and relationship management with key funders and institutional donors
• Ensure the whole organization is working to clearly defined funding priorities with effective collaboration between local and global teams
•  Commission market intelligence, to drive future direction for restricted funding strategy, and to inform skills development
• Build organizational competence in developing proposals for emerging new funding streams
• Lead our global business development network to build skills, capabilities, share learning and improve our overall fundraising performance

As part of the Marketing Area Senior Management Team, you will work with the Director, the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy and other key senior colleagues to ensure we have a diversified income portfolio and that we are pursuing the best funding strategies for each of the markets in which we operate.
