House Parent/ Nurse at SABIS International School

Job Purpose:

Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring a safe and caring boarding environment in which students will feel comfortable and at home; effectively communicating with students and ensuring an effective and well organised boarding house routine while making sure that the boarding philosophy is upheld and SABIS® policies and procedures are properly implemented and adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing a safe and caring boarding environment that enriches the lives of the students in the care of the school.
• Prioritizing the safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety of students above all other duties and being familiar with statutory safeguarding and child protection requirements, as well as relevant college policy.
• Implementing, under the guidance of boarding management, procedures for the boarding process and proactively evaluating and improving standards of welfare support for students.
• Being available to comfort, advise, and support student in their daily lives; and creating a space where pupils feel safe.
• Being mindful of the need to ensure all School students receive a high level of care and discipline at all times (consistent with the School Handbook).
• Managing administrative duties such as keeping medical records, attending Houseparent meetings, etc.

Ideal Requirements:

• Experience working with students
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Registered with Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid practice license
• 1-5 years of experience in the field
• English proficient
• Professional behavior and ethical conduct
• Problem solving skills
• Delivering results
• Continuous learning and improvement
• Accountability and taking ownership
