Junior Product Engineer at Roam Electric

About the role:

Roam is seeking to hire a Junior Product Engineer to join the Motorcycle Product Team. As a member of this team, you will work closely with the Product Owner, Product Manager, and functional teams to gain hands-on experience in the product development process, participate in engineering analysis and simulation activities, conduct research on new materials and technologies, and help in problem-solving activities related to product development. Ultimately, you will contribute to the launch of new and improved automotive products that meet customer needs and exceed expectations in terms of quality, performance, and reliability. Additionally, the role aims to develop the skills of the Apprentice to become a successful Product Engineer in the automotive industry.

Key Duties and responsibilities

• Participate in brainstorming sessions and develop new product ideas.
• Create detailed product design specifications based on customer requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure product design meets company goals.
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure the product meets design specifications and customer expectations
• Provide technical support to customers, sales representatives, and other internal teams.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and develop solutions.
• Develop technical documentation such as user manuals, installation guides, and product specification
• Identify and analyze areas for process improvement in product design and development.
• Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage projects from conception to launch.
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
• Track project progress and identify potential roadblocks.
• Communicate project status and issues to stakeholders.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Participate in training programs to develop new skills.
• Attend conferences and trade shows to learn about new products and technologies.
• Ensure products comply with industry regulations and standards.
• Stay up-to-date with changes to regulations and standards.
• Work with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary certifications and approvals.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address product design challenges.
• Solid understanding of automotive product development processes to effectively contribute to the product development team.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, simulation software, and other engineering tools to assist in product design and analysis activities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment to effectively collaborate with other team members and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with other team members and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation of product specifications, design changes, and testing results.
• Strong work ethic and a passion for learning to effectively contribute to the team and develop skills necessary to become a successful Product Engineer in the automotive industry.
