• Basic salary: KES. 121,928.00 p.m- KES 187,710.00 p.m
• House allowance: KES. 55,286.00 p.m

Job Specifications

The key duties and responsibilities entail:

• Seeking and deserminating knowledge through research, publications teaching and supervision of students so as to contribute to the University manadate.
• Developing original and innovative research to attract funding and provide research opportunities for students’ supervision.
• Producing scholarly publications, disserminating findings across the University and globally for professional growth and raising the University’s research ranking.
• Promoting innovative approaches to learning and teaching across the University and globally.
• Developing and implementing research and innovation projects that provide possible solutions to complex challenges facing the community.
• Promoting the intergration of own research area with other research interests within and as appropriate outside the school and faculty to provide cross cutting solutions.
• Attracting research funding on an individual and collaborative basis to fund innovation and research.
• Providing high quality postgraduate supervision to produce high quality and relevant graduates attractive to the job market.
• Devising innovative approaches approaches for teaching in order to improve knowledge delivery.
• Developing and reviewing curricula to ensure that there is proper transfer of knowledge and skills for critical thinking and development of graduates ready to meet the demands of the industry.
• Conducting experiments and organize field trips, study tours and industrial based learning in order to impart practical skills to help students meet market demands.
• Supervising teaching assistants and students, review course work including the use of course evaluation forms to ensure and enhance quality of teaching.
• Setting,marking and moderation of examinations in order to provide constructive feedback to students to ensure that they have the required skills for certification ready for the market.
• Supervising the work of the students including practical sessions where appropriate,provide advice on study skill and help students with learning problems to improve their performance.
• Identifying learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives to ensure quality of teaching.
• Challenging thinking by applying appropriate approaches, faster debate and developing the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
• Undertaking cosultancies with local and international organizations within arears of expertise to enhance the image of the University.
• Showcasing innovative products and ideas in conferences, forums, symposia and community outreach programs to ensure adequate communication and disserminatin to enhance the image of the University.
• Establishing collaborative linkages and networks through communication, collaboaration and perticipation for resource mobilization for the University.
• Engaging with the community through traning, creation of awareness, sensitization inorder to influence socio-economic development.
• Presenting research findings and innovations at iternational conferences in order to increase the visibility of the University and to influence international policy environment for improvement of life.
• Serving as volunteer at various level in the Society/Community service to benefit the community through capacity building.
• Contributing in the development of departmental budgets to ensure proper and efficient use of resources.
• Managing and supervising research project teams in order to deliver innovative outputs that influence national and global practices and policies.
• Participating in preparation of laboratory sessions and student trips.
• Producig reports and publications as expected to account for the execution of student and staff supervisory roles for the smooth running of the University.
• Participating in the development of teaching strategies to ensure higher quality learning in the department and school levels.
• Contributing to the management and administrative processes in the University through participation in different committees of the department, School and University.
• Guiding and counselling students in order to provide psychosocial support to enable them to improve on their performance, to instill professiuonal values and build their confidence.
• Using listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students and provide support to foster mental stability required for good performance.
• Refering students to relevant alternative sources of assistance and services as appropriate.
• Responding to pedagogical and practical challenges for efficient running of the department and institution.
• Providing regular contact liaison with students to reach and provide support.
• Controlling and managging research budgets to ensure accountability of llocated funds.
