Manager, Finance And Accounts at National Mining Corporation (NMC)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead in providing proper interpretation and implementation of financial policies, regulations and procedures, Government circulars, letters and instructions; develop supplementary financial policies, regulations and procedures to enhance internal controls;
• Managing financial resources, coach and mentor staff in the division;
• Coordinating preparation and submission of financial statements as required by the law;
• Monitoring and evaluating financial systems and make recommendations for improvement;
• Ensuring compliance with laid down financial systems;
• Overseeing preparation of the corporation’s annual budget and presentation to the Board for approval;
• Coordinating reconciliation and maintenance of general ledger accounts;
• Ensuring interpretation and implementation of all financial policies, rules and regulations;
• Ensuring that accurate, timely, reliable financial information and timely submissions of annual financial statements of accounts;
• Ensuring effective management of corporate tax, VAT, and other statutory deductions; and
• Any other duty or responsibility as may be assigned by the CEO.

Requirement for Appointment

• A person shall be qualified for appointment as the Manager Finance and Accounting if that person meets the following minimum requirements:
• Master’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounts, Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Finance, Business Administration, Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA K) or its equivalent;
• Member of institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) and in good standing;
• At least ten (10) years’ work experience, five (5) years of which must have been in management role;
• Management/Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
