Manager – Management Accounting at Geothermal Development Company

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

• Providing technical leadership to teams in the department to enable them to develop, implement and evaluate strategic management plans and budgets aimed at improving performance standards and achievement of organizational goals
• Effective allocation of financial resources to meet the company's strategic goals and objectives by forecasting and planning
• Prepare management reports for decision making
• Carry out Financial Analysis including Project Costing and Budget Variance Analysis and take corrective measures where applicable
• Prepare of annual budgets, supplementary budgets, budgets for Development Partner Funds, and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)
• Ensure the effective utilization of allocated resources by departments while implementing funds re-allocation requests and funds release, budget variance analysis and budget co-ordination
• Analyse costs for decision making which will entail project costing, consultancy costing, hire of equipment costing and other financial analysis
• Ensuring compliance with Treasury regulations and procedures
• Billing for supplies and services rendered by the Company
• Generating funds reports to inform and facilitate decision making
• Submit funds reports to the relevant Stakeholders
• Manage staff performance within the department
•  Mentoring and coaching the departmental staff
• Coordinating and implementing identified performance contracting targets

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, four (4) of which must have been in a managerial role
• Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) or its equivalent
• Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks (cumulative)
• CPA (K) of the Certified Public Accountants or its equivalent
• Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) as a CPA(K) or any other relevant professional body
• Proficiency in Computer Applications
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
