Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that the laboratory is clean and in the required condition in order to provide conducive working environment for quality laboratory service delivery.
• Review laboratory safety policies and procedures in collaboration with the Chief Laboratory technologist and sensitize the same to other laboratory staff, interns and students in the hospital.
• Implement the required laboratory safety standards enshrined in Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform advanced medical molecular tests and other diagnostic procedures in order to diagnose complex medical conditions v. Perform diagnostic testing vi. Develop protocols and guidelines for quality control vii. Preparing samples, sequencing DNA, analyzing data and reporting findings. viii. Research for genetic diseases and disorders. ix. Research in infectious diseases.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory, Diagnostic Molecular Science or any other relevant and related field from a recognized institution.
• Master in Diagnostic Molecular Science or any other relevant and related field from a recognized institution.
• PhD is an added advantage.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board (KMLTTB)
• Computer literate.
• Knowledge of relevant legislations.
•  At least three years of working experience as a Molecular Diagnostics Specialist in a reputable hospital or similar institution.
